Can you have too many sectors in one grain jar?

I started out with this “hobby” not so long ago, cloned store bought mushroom to agar but didn’t sector. I’m wondering if that can be problematic down the line with too many sectors/genetics intermingling.

I'm reading this part of the forum for several years and I've never read anything about sectoring regarding gourmet mushrooms. So it looks like that is done in magic part only.
If you bought your mushroom in a store, it must be already with correct genetics.
Sectoring in magic mushrooms is from the fact that it is illegal to send them around, only sending spores are legal for "scientific purposes".

As far as I understand it you should only see sectoring with spores. When a single spore germinates its monokaryotic, when it meets with another spore that's germinated they mate and form dikaryotic mycleium. The sectoring you see on a plate of agar is the different genetics from spores fighting with each other. You then select away and transfer from those sectoring dikaryotic mycelium until you get mycelium that doesn't sector and thats considered a monoculture and pure genetics. Since you cloned it from a fruiting body it should be the exact same genetics. If you happened to get some spores on the agar or in your grains you may see sectoring.

That makes sense, hadn’t read too much into it, but good to know. Less work for me! One of my grain jars has a faint line running through it, one side looks almost tomentose while the other is thicker and I thought this might be two different sectors. Possibly some type of contam or change in temp during colonisation.
