afoaf-

I appreciate the fact that you DON'T hate
the US, you disagree with the policies of the government.

I still think though that alot (maybe not most) people on this board blindly hate the US.  Also i think most students at my school do too.  It just seems natural for teens and young adults to want to rebel against the "man" no matter what.  I remeber back when Clinton was president, I would defend him when my peers (mostly the young adults and teens) would spout hated of him , just because he was the president.

-What drives someone to commit terrorism?  I dont think it has anything to do with politics or "foriegn policy"  Some people are taught to hate from the day they are born and commit terror because that is what they are taught and that is all they know....  There are much more constructive ways to fight another countries "foriegn policy".  The terrorists of the middle east have been taught hate for anything/anyone that dosent conform to their idea of Islam.  If the US wasnt around and supporting Israel, they would still be terrorists, and they would still be murdering anybody who thought differently from them....

I told you guys that making those photos public was irresponsible and would have grave consequences. That guy would be alive if not for the news media's wrecklesness.

The way i read it he did say first

"Right or wrong our men dropping the moral highground opened the door for nutcase extremists to do just what we witnessed."

He says our men dropped the moral high ground, and thats what allows extremists to do what we witnessed....

I think we should drop a few nukes on those mountains in Pakistan and be done with it. Stop playing with kid gloves.

Considering that it is Al Qaeda, I change my statement. You are right, they would kill him anyways.

And, if we could answer it completely, we'd have a better chance to prevent more people from becoming terrorists.

fuckin' savages.

"In the video, five men wearing headscarves and black ski masks stand over a bound man in an orange jumpsuit similar to prison uniforms.

"My name is Nick Berg. My father's name is Michael. My mother's name is Suzanne," the man, seated in a chair, says. "I have a brother and sister, David and Sara. I live in ... Philadelphia."

The video then cuts to Berg sitting on the floor, his hands tied behind his back, flanked by the masked men, as a statement is read in Arabic. Berg sits still during the statement, facing the camera, occasionally raising his shoulders.

After the statement, one assailant takes a large knife from under his clothing while another pulls Berg onto his side. The tape shows assailants thrusting the knife through his neck. A scream sounds before the men cut Berg's head off, repeatedly shouting "Allahu Akbar!" _ or "God is great."

They then hold the head out before the camera."

doesn't shift the blame anywhere, but interesting...

"...Michael Berg lashed out at the U.S. military and Bush administration, saying his son might still be alive if he had been allowed to leave the country on March 30, as he had originally planned.

"I think a lot of people are fed up with the lack of civil rights this thing has caused," he said. "I don't think this administration is committed to democracy."

Nick Berg spoke to his parents on March 24 and said he would return home March 30. But he was detained by Iraqi police at a checkpoint in Mosul on March 24. At some point during his 13-day detention, U.S. officials took custody of him, his father said, and he was not allowed to make phone calls or contact a lawyer.

FBI agents visited Berg's parents in West Chester on March 31 and told the family they were trying to confirm their son's identity. On April 5, the Bergs sued the government in federal court in Philadelphia, contending that their son was being held illegally by the U.S. military.

Berg was released the next day, and he told his parents he had not been mistreated. They did not hear from him after April 9."
