My Rye was rinsed and is soaking in cold water, not hot

The first rye tek I came across said just water, didn't mention hot, so I rinsed thoroughly until clear with cold tap and it's sitting in the PC with water sitting just a little over the grain level, probably another mistake (with 1 tablespoon gypsum). Then I saw this..

Quote:

One common mistake people make with rye and wbs is failing to rinse the grains before soaking with HOT tap water.  By using hot water for the rinse and to begin the soak, not only do they absorb water better, but the heat 'pasteurizes' the rye, preventing germination.  Those who rinse/soak in cold water often have germination problems.

My Rye has been soaking for about 10 hours. Is it worth tossing and restarting?

The PC is just for the soak not actually cooking it.

If its been 10 hours till u start soak you can pour out that water and soak it for another 12 hours with hot, it will give you 22h soak time... 12-24 is optimal for rye.. and yes, use a much more water, maybe even close to two times depth of rye

Here is everything you need to know about grain and substrate prep.
