Lineseed, Birdseed, Organic Rice Substrate Mix

How can I mix these into an awesome substrate mix?
I have:
- Bird seeds
- Flax / Line seeds
- "organic rice", which doesn't look totally white, so I assume its brown rice?
- Vermiculite
What would be a good mix and how should I do it?
For birdseeds and lineseeds I read, that it is actually best not to blend them. But what about the rice? Should I blend the rice, but leave the other ingredients full? And what about proportions?
I was thinking:
20% Line seeds 50% Bird Seeds 20% Vermiculite 10% Rice Flour
I also have some talcum I could add for good measure.
I plan on doing some kind of casing / cake based grow, because I want it to happen as fast as possible and I don't want to do a monotub, because it didn't work out very well for me the last time and seems to be more work. SGFC perhaps.
Does that make any sense? If it does, how should I soak these different ingredients? I will be colonizing in a bag.

I would make jars of WBS
Cause thats all i use is wbs
Seems it would be hard to mix different grains and stuff and get a field capacity that will colonize
Just easier to use one thing
Bulk is not more work
What kinda jars are you using? You got a pc and qt jars or what?

I use bags, not jars and I have an autoclave. Birdseed is already consisting of different things, so why not add some more? Problem is I don't have enough bird seeds, only about 1kg. So I want to add some rice to it and maybe some line seeds. Would it be better to put the rice in whole or as flour?
Do you add verm to your bird seed? Or only when you bulk? I didn't get good results with bulk, but that has probably a ton of reasons. Like colonizing for 3 months. I probably fucked it up, maybe Ill try again with bulk.

I dont add verm to wbs
I just use wbs
Mixing seeds and flour sounds like a mess to me
If you get clean spawn and use coir and verm as sub then bulk is pretty simple and easy

Ill add the rice as whole grains, lets see what happens. On the last run I pasteurized the coir and ground it to fine bits in a dry state, which was all a bit bothersome. But I suspect that both steps are actually unnecessary. The water will probably break it up just fine and I don't actually need to pasteurize it? Not sure about that.

For coir get a cooler, put the coir and verm in, boil water and throw it in and shut the lid. Let it sit overnight and use it next day
Just buy a bigger bag of wbs and use that or use flour separate in cakes is mt suggestion
Are you inoculating with a syringe?
If so geind your brown rice to flour and use pf tek or make agar

Yes, syringe. I also have some agar plates I prepared and a SAB and will do some agar experiments as well soon. However, I think it would be faster to inoculate with the syringe no? So what about the notion, that coir doesn't need to be sterilized? Not that its a big deal to boil water though. Do you just put the brick in the bin and pour water over it or do you hack it to bits first?

Just pour water over it
Works better to "cook" it
Syringe to grain is faster, depends
If its clean and starts colonizing fast then you be ok. You could g2g.
I wouldnt expect a high rate of success but you might get "blessed" (lucky)
I would start agar asap
And do syringe to grain if you dont wana wait for clean agar.
Doing agar first is adding a couple weeks or so to the process but increasing chances of success and colonization times enough to make it worth it

Why does agar add weeks? Doesn't it take only some days for agar to be colonized? Or do you mean isolating a single strain?

No it takes longer than a couple days for agar to colonize coming from a drop of MS
Like a week to germ then another week to grow out give or take

You could use rye, barley, wheat, oats and other grains.
