I am quitting nicotine(vaping) today! * 3
    #26638819 - 04/30/20 11:32 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

That's right. I'm trading every single vape related item I have for weed. That way whenever I get an urge I can just puff on the herb. Wish me good vibes :vibin:

Ps. If anyone else is quitting feel free to use this thread for support :shroomeryhead:

Congrats! What kind of vape did you use to get off smoking? An uncle of mine has been trying to quit for a while and I was hoping to be able  to get him one that doesn't require much vape specific knowledge to use or maintain.

Oh I use a voopoo  DRAG. One that came out like 2 or 3 years ago. I also use an RDA(rebuilible drip atomizer) and built my own coils as it saves a FUCK TON of $$$. And I started at 6mg nicotine and went down to 3mg and stayed at 3mg until now. I actually started with cheap gas station shit but once I got a mod and dialed everything in it was great

Several Shroomerites helped each other quit in This thread from yesteryear thats full of motivational talk from all sides.

Godspeed!

Quote:

Asante said:

LETS QUIT SMOKING RIGHT NOW!

Its expensive as fuck. Its a constant bother having to plan everything around the smoking and availability of cigarettes. One in two lifelong smokers dies as a consequence of smoking and lifelong smoking on average takes a decade off your life expectancy, by making your health express a decade older than you are.

It stinks up your clothes.
Enhanced fire hazard in your home.
Its bad for every cell in your body.
Evil depressing messages on each pack.

Lets QUIT.

TODAY.

I went ahead and quit 4 days ago. The craving is a bit of a nuisance but I notice better circulation, better feeling lungs, I slept better last night. deeper and more restful, all good things. In the past 4 days I DIDNT smoke over 100 cigarettes.
100!

OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO
OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO

My brain is a bit annoyed with quitting, but my lungs, my blood cells, my heart, my vascular system, for them its partytime because the stream of toxins has ceased :birthday:

And that is just the tip of the iceberg!

If you quit..

Quote:

Within ...

•  20 minutes
Your blood pressure, pulse rate and the temperature of your hands and feet have returned to normal.
•  8 hours
Remaining nicotine in your bloodstream will have fallen to 6.25% of normal peak daily levels, a 93.75% reduction.
•  12 hours
Your blood oxygen level will have increased to normal and carbon monoxide levels will have dropped to normal.
•  24 hours
Anxieties have peaked in intensity and within two weeks should return to near pre-cessation levels.
•  48 hours
Damaged nerve endings have started to regrow and your sense of smell and taste are beginning to return to normal. Cessation anger and irritability will have peaked.
•  72 hours
Your entire body will test 100% nicotine-free and over 90% of all nicotine metabolites (the chemicals it breaks down into) will now have passed from your body via your urine.  Symptoms of chemical withdrawal have peaked in intensity, including restlessness. The number of cue induced crave episodes experienced during any quitting day will peak for the "average" ex-user. Lung bronchial tubes leading to air sacs (alveoli) are beginning to relax in recovering smokers. Breathing is becoming easier and the lung's functional abilities are starting to increase.
•  5 - 8 days
The "average" ex-smoker will encounter an "average" of three cue induced crave episodes per day. Although we may not be "average" and although serious cessation time distortion can make minutes feel like hours, it is unlikely that any single episode will last longer than 3 minutes. Keep a clock handy and time them.
•  10 days
10 days - The "average" ex-user is down to encountering less than two crave episodes per day, each less than 3 minutes.
•  10 days to 2 weeks
Recovery has likely progressed to the point where your addiction is no longer doing the talking. Blood circulation in your gums and teeth are now similar to that of a non-user.
•  2 to 4 weeks
Cessation related anger, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, impatience, insomnia, restlessness and depression have ended. If still experiencing any of these symptoms get seen and evaluated by your physician.
•  21 days
Brain acetylcholine receptor counts that were up-regulated in response to nicotine's presence have now down-regulated and receptor binding has returned to levels seen in the brains of non-smokers.
•  2 weeks to 3 months
Your heart attack risk has started to drop. Your lung function is beginning to improve.
•  3 weeks to 3 months
Your circulation has substantially improved. Walking has become easier. Your chronic cough, if any, has likely disappeared. If not, get seen by a doctor, and sooner if at all concerned, as a chronic cough can be a sign of lung cancer.
•  8 weeks
Insulin resistance in smokers has normalized despite average weight gain of 2.7 kg (1997 study).
•  1 to 9 months
Any smoking related sinus congestion, fatigue or shortness of breath have decreased. Cilia have regrown in your lungs, thereby increasing their ability to handle mucus, keep your lungs clean and reduce infections. Your body's overall energy has increased.
•  1 year
Your excess risk of coronary heart disease, heart attack and stroke have dropped to less than half that of a smoker.
•  5 years
Your risk of a subarachnoid haemorrhage has declined to 59% of your risk while still smoking (2012 study). If a female ex-smoker, your risk of developing diabetes is now that of a non-smoker (2001 study).
•  5 to 15 years
Your risk of stroke has declined to that of a non-smoker.
•  10 years
Your risk of being diagnosed with lung cancer is between 30% and 50% of that for a continuing smoker (2005 study). Risk of death from lung cancer has declined by almost half if you were an average smoker (one pack per day).  Risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus and pancreas have declined. Risk of developing diabetes for both men and women is now similar to that of a never-smoker (2001 study).
•  13 years
The average smoker able to live to age 75 has 5.8 fewer teeth than a non-smoker (1998 study). But by year 13 after quitting, your risk of smoking induced tooth loss has declined to that of a never-smoker (2006 study).
•  15 years
Your risk of coronary heart disease is now that of a person who has never smoked. Your risk of pancreatic cancer has declined to that of a never-smoker (2011 study - but note 2nd pancreatic making identical finding at 20 years).
•  20 years
Female excess risk of death from all smoking related causes, including lung disease and cancer, has now reduced to that of a never-smoker (2008 study). Risk of pancreatic cancer reduced to that of a never-smoker (2011 study).

Lets all quit smoking together, right now!  We can use this topic for peptalk. Most of you dont smoke for 25 years like I did, and every single cigarette NOT smoked is a gain for your health, even if you later on start smoking again.

LET'S DO THIS :smile2:

Yeah thanks guys and I agree 100%. I have the will. I'm never going to consume nicotine again. (I quit cigs like 4 years ago and switched to vaping with my end goal to quit nicotine. Took a little longer than I was planning but for some reason now I feel ready. Thank all of you in advance for your support  <3 :shroomeryhead:)

I think one has to consider it like an ex-alcoholic would; it's easier to not have the first one than it is to not have the second.

It's definitely a 'teetotal' requirement for anyone that has ever been seriously addicted to the stuff.

I went 2.5 happy years without it in my mid twenties, and just smoked mild weed.

It was the most free that I've ever felt in my life back then.

I cold turkey quit smoking just a bit less than a week ago. It's actually been a lot easier than i expected. I dunno thoigh, i still get serious cravings around once a day i guess. Being broke helps, and corona virus helps...cant just go sniping without worrying about sickness.
I wish ye luck in your endeavor and hope that you have as easy a time at it as me. :cigar:

Right now I’m hooked on really high level nicotine vape juice. It’s got 58mg in a 1.2ml cart and I’ll puff through a cart a day. When I started on these carts one would last me over a week.

I really want to quit. Maybe I’ll use this thread for support.

Hell yeah! It makes me happy seeing others quitting as well. I've already had a couple mild cravings but I just shrugged them off so far. You guys can do it! Replace it with a good habit. I'm trying to keep busy as well and it seems to be helping

Edit: and even if I wanted to cave in I now no longer have any nicotine even remotely close to me(I also live 10 miles from any town) so I have no choice but to quit now :ruggedwink:

Ah i see. I used weed and cbd to get over kratom addiction, but i was more worried about losing all my hair on kratom than my lungs, plus the kratom withdrawals. I still vape constantly. and i vape the weed too. idk how unhealthy it is but feels way better on the lungs than smoking does

You got this, once you get over the initial hump you'll feel better than ever.  You got a good plan with taking rips whenever you have a hankering for nicotine :bongload:  I've been cigarette/vape free for like 9 months now and it is one of the best decisions I've ever made.  Good luck dawg

Day 3! Yesterday was good. I didn't have any urges and so far no urgest today. I'm very surprised at how easily this is going. Weed is helping SO MUCH.

I hope all of you are doing good as well. Just hang in there if you are struggling, you got this! :shroomeryhead::highfive1:

Good job!  One day at a time.  Don't get ahead of yourself.  I've watched so many people relapse 7 days in or 14 days in.  Really just focus on the present until you have at least a month.  Then you can trust your judgment more.

Oh I'm not trusting my judgement lmao I already made a pact with my friend. If I cave he wont give me any nicotine and just give me weed instead lol

I'm just stating how I felt yesterday and so far today. The FIRST day was the worst cos I had multiple urges mostly at night but I gave all my shit away and live in middle of nowhere so I just puffed on weed every time I had an urge and I got stupid high lol but since then I feel much better. I hope it stays this way. I hope I never have another urge.

Im 7 weeks in a slow taper quit,im taking chantix too, I started at 6mg/ml and tapered in half every few 120ml bottles, im down to 0.02mg/ml and have barley felt any withdrawals yet, thanks to the chantix, I got about 60ml of 0.02mg left then im going to taper to 0.01mg for a bottle or two then ill be on no nicotine fluid, and I still have 5 weeks of chantix left, they give it out in a 12 week program here, but I heard its better to take it for 6 months cause thats the most likely time for a relapse

Wow, congratulations! You've made an admirable choice and it will be well the fuck worth it for you. Fuck social control drugs, your mind is free! If you ever feel like you need nicotine remember how much the establishment wants you hooked on it. Nicotine is to cannabis what TV is to the shroomery, never let the system win.

Day 4

Just woke up, I notice I've been waking up way earlier than usual. It's like I've been sleeping better since quitting nicotine  I felt great all day until I was ready for bed then I had some urges but they went away quickly after taking a couple puffs of weed

How are all you guys doing?

Im planning to quit when I run out which is either gonna be today or tomorrow and I am not sure how it will go. When i quit nicotine I can go to a very dark place for a few days and thats the part of this im dreading most. Not the urges but the actually consequence it has on me as a person. I live alone which helps keep others from getting the rough end of my withdrawal but when i go to work is where im worried about having a moment where I lose control of my emotions.

Try dosing a little bit of liquid CBD when you feel anxious at work.  It works well at calming me when I'm at work.

It goes away. People use that as a trigger, they feel a little off and then they have a smoke. It's like adjusting to the fact that there isn't a crutch to turn your mind off for a minute or two. I know exactly what you mean, but I can say that in my experience it definitely went away and looking back on smoking in general I was more stressed with it in my life. Exercise is a good way to make it go away if it's bothersome, cardio in particular. It might not make you forget you want a smoke but it might make you feel different enough to associate the feeling with something else

:ohyeah:
I'm going full mind over matter. When I get an urge or feel edgy I instantly start to engage my mind or body into an activity. Video games have helped me a lot at night. I've gotten so much done since quitting nicotine hahaha all that energy toward the urges can be applied to other tasks quite effectively lol

Dude, hell yeah!  Congrats, that's  huge accomplishment.  It only gets better too.  Have you noticed any subtle differences with your physical health?

Don't know the exact day I quit but it was in july or August of last year so I'll be coming up on a year off nicotine soon enough.  Hardly think about them anymore which is still crazy to me cuz I've been smoking since I was a kid.

Day 3 nicotine is supposedly out or almost out of my system. I feel very depressed. I feel rage. Not going well.

This is the perfect day for a double dose of LSD.

A friend of mine quit smoking, almost caved and instead id just that.

The LSD made his entire personality come apart and when it came together again the abuse was no longer in it, he was quit.

That's really cool. So they didnt really have cravings after that?  Tryptamines definitely have helped me stay focused and mindful of my goal to stay off them, especially in the beginning..

He literally went on TILT like an oldfashioned pinball machine. At once he started laughing, his spirit left his body leaving his body behind, laughing nonstop for 1.5 hour straight. I was happy that of all emotions, it was that one, though its impossible for the neighbors not to have assumed drug involvement, a guy laughing at the top of his lungs for an hour and a half straight in the night in a darkened room. :rotfl:

God's a pretty good joker and the joke was on him

I really wish that were true for me

I actually quit nicotine on a whim once like 4 years ago and stayed stopped for almost 2 years. At that time quitting was totally effortless for me somehow. Started on a whim and here i am. Still waiting for the day it is effortless again:huxleyfacepalm:

Finally on the other side of insanity. Still got craving but the chemical adjustment known as withdrawal is past me. Its all psychological from here.
