Mushroom in grass identification.

Habitat:
South Africa. Growing in my lawn, which is in shade over 50% of the day

Gills:
Yellow.

Stem:
Thickish, 2 inches

Cap:
Top is brown, round

Spore print color:
Not done, hoping the pictures will be enough to tell.

Bruising:


Other information:
Walked on it unfortunatly, which is why its a bit crushed, but I would love to know what im dealing with here... as a shroom noob, i have no idea haha.

It looks like a species of Xerocomellus.

These mushrooms arnt poisonous are they? I have dogs, even though they arnt interested in them. I was originally hoping I got lucky and got some psychoactive ones haha, would have been great during the lockdown.

They are not likely to be toxic to humans. Dogs, however, are as far as I know sometimes susceptible to poisoning from species that are harmless to us.

For psilocybin species I reckon your best chance is to hunt for Psilocybe cubensis in herbivore manure, although I guess this depends a bit on
where in South Africa you are situated.

Look how in photos of merulioides, the pores run up the stem of the mushroom. Not the case with this one.

Did you read AnglerFish's post suggesting Xerocomellus?
