Silversmithing and Fine Weapons Forging 1

So, I really want to learn how to make fine jewelry and metal weaponry, and I'm wondering if any of y'all are smiths, know a smith, or know anything about smithing. I know I would be extremely talented at the craft, but dont know exactly how to break into it. I know i could go to a four year school, but I'd really rather not do that for many reasons. Another option would be to find someone who will let me be an apprentice, which i would love. And yet another option, which i think may be optimal for me but maybe not, would be to find a trade school, which is kinda tricky for my situation...
See, i have a bit of money that i can use for school, but only school and it has to be an accredited school. Most silversmithing schools are not that, unless they're four year schools, which, as i stated, i dont want to go to. So, I am wondering if any of y'all have any advice...Do you know of an accredited trade school i could attend? Or perhaps a place i can learn for free/work? Id also love to hear random smithing stories or facts or whatever.
So yeah, making awesome high quality stuff with hot metal...

I would start with a how to's on youtube, then I would aquire essentials. Like a forge...pretty cheap and easy to make an @home propane forge. Learn about sand casting. Start makeling castinhs until you get someyhing that turns ouy. Youyube is pretty much school.

Yeah. Only problem with that is I dont have a place to do so at the moment...That would be the most ideal option if i did.
And im much more into wax casting than sand...sand is harder to get fine details with than wax.
Ive been thinking about definitely getting a kiln though. That I have room for. It wouldnt solve mu dilemma, but its an extremely helpful tool. Id build my own if i had the space...

Well so whats your end game? Go and find a forgery guy around in your locals and go aprentice? It could be done but your deaired hobby isnt too common these days and if you actually want to do something your probably just going to have to figure out how to get the space and eqipment. To start working on stuff. Its a very specific field with fewer and farer between. Your options are limited.

Some community colleges have fine arts degrees and you can learn silversmithing. Really any art school will have classes/programs in metal work and working with precious metals. Many offer associates degrees as well.
