Friendly neighbor here. Indeed EU laws regarding pressure cookers are strict as frick, and costs of importing from US can triple the original purchase when You take customs into account.

From my research best bet is to look for PC's that can handle 100 kpa (14.5 PSI). There are a few that operate on 2 modes, 60/100 kpa in that regard.

Right now I'm using my fathers 6L GSW, but because I'm in need of my owns anyway - Monix Veloce 7L have caught my attention

China make autoclaves 18l capacity 15psi, they're on ebay.

I tried to buy one of those chinese, but they wanted to charge extra. In the end, the cheapest I got was Presto 23qt, found on ebay.co.uk for €150, import taxes and shipping included.

Even if it's way more expensive than it is for our US brothers, it's the best investment I've made in this hobby. I had a 9l PC before and that bigger PC is just a completely different story.

hey guys,

I'm think about going back to cultivating after 10 years, however, I'm having problems in Germany.
I didn't think it would be so difficult finding a decent pressure cooker in here though.
does anyone have any tip on decent pressure cookers around here?
apparently German laws are pretty strict when it comes to DECENT pressure cookers (15psi is pretty much impossible to find, let alone anything over 10L), so I'm trying to see what people use here.
I'm already missing my 20L one now.

appreciate the input

thanks

Go on one of the popular auction sites, and get a presto 23quart πŸ‘Œ I'm from Europe too, and getting one from the us was the cheapest πŸ‘Œ 120euro incl shipping

I was afraid of going that route because it's quite small :frown:

So I guess I'll go through this route as well. I was afraid it would stop in the customs because of regulations, and apparently at least through official means, they never ship it over here. Maybe I can talk to a private seller to see what can be done regarding shipping.
150eur isn't that bad and if it arrives I'm happy

thanks guys for the input!

thats one of the many reasons why the eu needs to be disbanded. they have way too strict bs laws in place. not to mention that each country has givin up their own individual sovereignty. only to be ruled by unelected  assholes in brussels.  fuckin germany use to be prolly the most superior industrious country in the world. even more so than the u.s at one time. hell we got most of our shit by stealing german technology after ww2 lol. it really just breaks my heart to see that they aint  even allowed to make their own pressure cookers anymore. this is not a political statement in any way so please dont think im trying or even want to argue politics. im just simply stating that those kinds of laws are sad as hell and the people in no way at all even got to have a say in such measures. il go look in my garage after work and if i still have my presto that i replaced when i got my aa il hit u up and fuckin send it to you free of charge my german friendπŸ‘πŸ‘

I looked into it a lot and I ended up getting a Presto 23 qt from eBay. I found some sterilizers (like All American pc, that's what they call them in the US) on Alibaba and some german websites selling autoclaves (for a couple thousand euros). The Presto from eBay ended up being the cheapest alternative. Most pressure cookers where I'm from not only are too small, but only reach 10 psi (70 kPa). Best investment I made

I was in the same position as you, and my advice is the same. Don't bother with the stuff you can find in Europe, or buy stuff from sketchy websites. Buy a Presto 23Qt from the US and you will be so happy you did it (I got mine from amazon.com, took only 1 week)

I can't find any Presto that will ship over here. Only AA for 300eur, but that I find to be too pricey. eBay to the rescue I suppose

On the side note. I've find some PCookers for moonshine that are 20l and can go up to 0.8bar. Safety pin is activated @ above 1.1bar. I'll try to fiddle with weight of jiggle valve to increase the pressure needed to activate it at 1bar. If this will work and won't make hole in my kitchen wall then it's cheap alternative for around 50$ locally.

Wait, what's the use of a PC in moonshine making?
