2nd is bigger but not as many depends if you just birth a cake with out making it a casing chances are they will be kinda slim and tall but you will get a bunch of them dunno how many youll get mabe like a 1/8th off the first flush 1 cake.mabe a lil more, i always case them they seem to come out a lil thicker and bigger, im guessing cause instead of shrooms growing from every part of the cake they only grow from the top in a casing

i'll take stabb at it. shroom size about 4 inches tall.you'll never be able to guess how thick or dense they will be.but tripin420 is probaly right about 1/8 dry sounds right.

If a cake is dunked before the first flush you should be able to get consistently 50+ grams from it. Especially with strains that fruit like b+ does.

Youm could assuming your cakes make it through to 3 flushes without contaminating(sometimes they contam easier in later flushes),however much of the nutrients in the cake will have been used up,so you probably wont get the greatest yields, and as I said contams will set in faster.

question about casing... it says use peat moss and verm as top layers... is peat moss the food? i kno it holds water but is it the food as well? cause theres nothing else in there and it says the myc should pop thru...

I just got probibally 7 4"-5" B+s with about 1/2" caps off of a rice/verm cake that was birthed early. It was only about 1/3 of a 1/2 pint cake. This is the first flush, but the mycilum looks very tired and I don't know if it will flush again. This is my first successful grow and I am happy with it. I figure I can at least get one decent trip off of the shrooms and making tea out of the cake. My main goal was to get spore prints which, I accomplished .
Anyway... I'm obviously a newbie, but what is "coco coir"? Sound like I'd want to know for casing in the future.

No, there are no nutrients in the casing layer. The casing layer is there for the growing shrooms to draw moisture from. This way the shrooms get bigger and don't deplete the casing substrate of it's moisture as fast.
