ok i need a lil info here this never happen to me befor. i had about 75 fully colonized jars fully free of contam. i cased them into bread tin, i used them whole then cut a few to fill in the gaps. i have a filter for all my air going to the totes, i change teh filters every batch. well heres what happen 4 days after birthing i found green mold going every where so i took all the tins and put them out side to hope it would stop spreading, h2o2 was no help. any way they been out there for a lil bit i went to look at them today and its way to dry out i guess so i figured all was lost and threw them away, but i wanted to inspect what went wrong. so i dumped all the tins over and looks like the green mold started from the top (the verm layer) u can see the mold growing down into the cakes some of the tins only half was infected with bacteria. but it was to late i had touched everything by now. im thinking somehow my verm is carring bacteria it didnt only happen in 1 tote it happen in every tote i had. i just bought this bag of verm. its like a 20 lb bag i would hate to waste it next time i case u think puttin a ratio of h2o2 and water in the verm and mix it befor i case, u think that will help? i didnt do 1 thing def then any other time all the totes were sterlized and so forth! i need opinions and some suggestions
ps im using the same water source as always making the verm moist so i know that cant be it

Thats probably how it happened then. I fill a large microwavable bowl with verm, wet it down so theres a puddle in the bottom, Microwave for 3 mins, stir with clean spoon, then nuke another 3 mins. Cover with foil or syran wrap and let it cool.

wow i must of just been plain out lucky for the last year and a half i have never did any extra prep work to the verm as a casing layer except adding water. and i never had this problem. i was under the impression that verm is heated to such a temp when it is being made that its sterial. and i learned that here like a year ago i been so far away from the fourms in the past 6 months. well im doing away with verm then moving to the almight coco coir heard that stuff is amazing.

Oh man I feel so bad for you man, thats terrible!! 75 cakes gone after all that work!! I would sterilize the verm in the microwave from now on like daytripper said. We should all do this so this kind of thing doesnt happen!
