New to growing (this is my first try) and fairly new to shrooms (about a year). I found this site and thought this would be a cool way to get some help and advice along my journey and to connect with like minded people
I purchased a midwest grow kit and spores from spore depot. I inoculated my jars on march 26 (oven method). I used all 18 jars. Half are PES Amazonian and half are Mazaptec. Most are about colonized but a few jars are being extra slow. My plan is to fruit (is that an expression) them all in the same bin, but maybe I will separate. I have been keep them around 78 F. after about a week I ended up putting a blanket over the bin. A couple days ago the temp ended up spiking to about 91 and I freaked out. I guess they are making their own heat. I ended up turning the heating pad off for a couple hours and now it is on low and back to about 76. Anyways thought it'd be cool to document my experience, meet other growers, and share my shroom journey
Edit: I posted this on the pub and they told me to head over here I got advice to lose the heating pad so I think I will. Also-I think the reason why most colonized evenly but some took forever and stayed in one spot was because the first few I inoculated I didn't separate into four areas with the holes provided, I just used one hole, without thinking, until I realized there was 4 holes Also, I did shake them but I don't think soon enough.
I have one question though-my grow kit came with perlite that is placed in the bottom of the tub after the jars are inoculated. I like the fact that its sterile and easy, but how will this impact my yield by not using organic material?
(these are 3 different jars)

They need room temperature, I'd advise you to turn off the heating pad, but otherwise, they're good looking so far.
And yeah, perlite is often used in fruiting chambers. While it isn't organic material in a chemical sense, it's just rock. Also, sterility doesn't matter after the cakes are fully colonized.
