Hi, just a question about shrooms and schizophrenia. It’s a known fact that the meds for schizophrenia negate any effects from shrooms or lsd, my question is ...would they be able to get high on a way higher dose than normal??

depends what meds you're on. i know with heavy antipsychotics it may be hard to trip, although many reports say people still can trip while on their meds. tripping is known to be associated with schitzophrenia, so tread carefully. maybe there is a reason for your meds.

Franky, psychedelics and other types of drugs like K and weed often worsen the outcome of psychotic disorders.
You may get psychotic breaks sooner, more frequently, more severely and longer lasting than if you would not use them.
Its really best if you dont use them.
Meditation techniques may be very effective to you since psychotics are open to altered states of consciousness, and they help you get more control over yourself.

It was believed that psychedelics offered psychologists a model for schizophrenia, though that has changed since we now understand both psychedelics and schizophrenia better than we did during the 60s.

Intensely disagreed!! Schizophrenia and bipolar are rare and amazing gifts. Mental illness is of the essence if humanity wants any chance of escaping the cultural black hole. The thing to do is legendary doses of cannabis. I know we've moved on to concentrates in terms of THC content, but to me skunk is the gold standard, tried and true, I still revere it for the moral panic of 10-15 years ago.
That feeling of release when you've broken out of the matrix is unimaginably beautiful, even if you're initiated if you fall back into oblivion you only know how fucking awesome it is. I'm not talking about the comedown after being medicated when you start believing bullshit in a desperate attempt to avoid reassimilation. Psychosis has to be eaten raw.
I've been off my meds for 6 months trying to get back to neuroastral consciousness. It's not working yet, partly because I'm in a weed dry spell, partly because unleashing the dopamine flood is a consequence of a biorhythm measured in months.
I feel sorry for all y'all motherfuckers who have never had an episode. I don't know what advice to give as far as how to make it happen for dyed in the wool sane people, except to have hope for the future because more and more people are dropping out to be dream warriors. I don't know if maybe you have and you feel it was bad Asante, but the thing is, consensus reality is far worse. The programming will destroy us if we fear the ascension.
I had to step in with the enlightened POV to prevent the conclusion of this thread from being "don't look at this, you can't handle it".

I believe they still create an experience with similarities to psychosis or psychotic episodes: some things in the mind that normally are unconscious or not at the forefront of consciousness become conscious in a strength that is reality changing. They are very different things still, but there is a connection obviously. Cannabis psychosis and psychosis without cannabis are exactly alike if the nature of the psychosis is paranoid. Cannabis for some reason can potentiate those thoughts and feelings just like they would be in a paranoid psychotic state. I don't think mushrooms create an experience that is like a paranoid psychosis at all, but a very different kind of mental state. They might even be useful for schizophrenics or others who have had psychosis, if they can take on the experience and understand their minds more.

Peace Franky. The call to trip is something I feel quite often. I’m schizoaffective. After taking truffles I experienced psychosis. It got intense and out of control and symptoms persisted. Had some beautiful moments in the days following though although these were obviously outweighed. Been on meds on and off and have had episodes since then. I still think about psychedelics though but what I give more thought to lately is whether there are unexplored sustainable ways I can feel better while on low dose meds(though I hate em). A lot of people with schizophrenia etc. Wish to trip and all I’m going to say about that is that I understand.
Peace Alyssa. I hear you.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread. Just wondering whether the OP ended up trying anything while on meds? I've been hunting for $hr00ms and hadn't even considered whether they'd work with the meds I'm on.
