Party Loyalty
    #2663351 - 05/11/04 03:17 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

Party Loyalty is just another term for bigotry.

Why do people feel the need to affiliate themselves with groups? Why cant they be individuals? Why do people vote for their candidate simply because he is in the same party? And why do people refuse to listen to the opposing party's arguements objectively?

It seems to me like so many people have already made their election decision solely on party loyalty... Me, I'm looking forward to the debates!

I am a swing voter. Why do some people say that this means I have no integrity? The world is in a state of constant change. My opinions change with the world. What is wrong with that?

I see politics as a balancing act. the vote I cast is compensation. If I think that the country's politics are leaning too much to the left (as I did in the 90's), then I vote Republican. If I feel that the country's politics are leaning to much to the right, I vote Democrat (as I probably will this november).

what's with all this rampant party loyalty? Political parties are just tools for the individual. No one needs to get married to a political party. And its not wise to become so attatched to one party that you are incapable of examining another party's viewpoints objectively.

The foundation of my beliefs is that no principle is right all the time. The right principle is what works right now. Too many people have committed themselves to absolutes, and it has created the bigoted, partisan mess that is American politics.

thank you

in a word nothing. keep doin what your doin man this country could use more free thinking individuals like yourself. anyone who would say you have no integrity for this is a fool. but you know that.
i am not loyal to the republican party bush was just the better man, but show me the mother frogger that will promise to shut down the border and legalize pot and i might just have to show some loyalty.
but no party can fill the needs of everyone the dems try but they alway leave someone out while trying to get everyone in and the shame of it is its always the blacks that get screwed. of course most of us dont realize it because the dems pay jesse jackson and queezie mcphony to scare up racism against the gop so theres no chance we will vote for them and once the black vote is taken for granted and given they dont have to do anthing for us.
and the republicans are as crooked as the dems just in different ways.
they dont even try to whoo black votes because there is really no point.
one of my turning points was when bush offered up the school voucher program.
i though this is a great idea. i mean i was fotunate enough to get a quality education in a white school in the suburbs of baltimore but not all black kids were that lucky. and who is it that wouldve benefitted from said programs? those poor black kids you have now been left behing. but what really sickened me was how the dems got the so called black leadership to convince black people that this was not a good idea for them. and why not? because it would draw money away from the school system that was failing them anyway? one reason i dropped my party loyalty. clinton also had alot to do with it.

Lots of the people i talk to at school all come across real bitter about bush being president. Thinking he "stole it".

I dont really like bush or kerry, but i think kerry is just a joke.

And sadly, Bush is no joking matter.
