Germination taking place on side of Pastyplate not in the middle
    #26633043 - 04/27/20 09:05 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

Hey guys and girls,
I have some pasty type plates that I knocked up a week ago. I have had some contamination's on some which I tossed.
I am now seeing white dots pop up in quite a few but they are not where I swiped in the middle with the inoculation loop. I am wondering if the excess condensation in the plates after inoculation has washed spores to the side where they have germinated before the dry agar in the middle of the plate or if its more than likely contamination germinating after a week?

Has anyone had this happen where spores are washed to the side of the plate and germinate there?

Cheers.

It can certainly happen. You'll probably have to wait until there is something substantial there and get us pics.

Yeah will do. Will grow it out for a while and see. Just wanted to see if it had happened to others as it has happened on quite a few of my plates.
Cheers.
