Habitat: I found this mushroom growing off of horse manure that was on my lawn. Reno, Nevada, had a few rainy days and our temperature was in the low to mid 70s during the day time (and the lowest was about 45 degrees Fahrenheit at night). The position of the mushroom was such that it was having high sun exposure almost all day long (w/ a UV index of 6). My neighbor's sprinkler had lightly misted it just before I picked it. No other mushrooms were near it (but it's pretty rare to find even 1 mushroom around here).
Gills: Gills are dark brown on the edges, and black in-between. I can't tell how the gills are attached to the stem because the cap isn't open enough. (If necessary I can cut the cap in half and take a picture in order to attempt to find out.)
Stem: The stem is hollow. It varies in color from an off white to brown. The center of the stem is dark brown. The stem has lines running up the outside of it, that make me think it is a cinct. (This is the first mushroom I've tried to ID though, so I'm not overwhelmingly confident). The diameter of the stem is about that of a pinky finger.
Cap: The cap ranges in color from tan/brown to an off-white color. There is no visible margin on the cap, but I suspect that to be due to the sun exposure. The top looks "cracked". The diameter is somewhere between 1 and 2 inches. It is taller than it is wide, but not by much.
Spore print color: Charcoal black. But, this was my first time spore printing, and the cap was still wet on the outside from my neighbor's sprinkler, so there is a "brown" color that seems to have seeped into the outer portions of the spore print. From what I can tell, this "brown" is not the color of the spores.
Bruising: I genuinely can't tell if it is bruised or not. If it is then the bruising is somewhere between purple and black. I will include pictures of both before and after picking, as well as a day after having picked the mushroom.
Thank you for taking the time to read this
