coco coir and contams: what makes a good substitute?

I’ve been using coco coir/ vermiculite bulk substrate, pasteurizing using the bucket tek. I keep running into trich, right around when I start to get pins. I’ve been told, contams before a first flush is usually due to contaminated spawn. I’m fairly certain my jars have been healthy. So I think my problem is an error in the pasteurization process. I also think my spawn to bulk ratio was off. I’m thinking I should switch to a proper pasteurization tek, maybe using PC. Or completely getting rid of the coir and growing with another medium. What is a good substitute for cc? Should I use a different tek to pasteurize?

You don't even have to pasteurize coir/verm. There's a thread on here where someone is growing in unpasteurized hpoo and getting fruits.
It definitely has to be your spawn or inoculant or technique. Are you using agar? Are you using an SAB or flowhood? What is your jar lid setup like?
Trich grows like white mycelium in jars so it's super hard to detect

I'm very new to this, so I suggest waiting for more experienced growers to help you out.
However, as far as I know, coco coir doesn't even need to be pasteurized and is pretty clean and contam resistant.

More info would be helpful. What did you inoculate your grain with? I've never once had an issue with bucket tek pasteurization with coir (and seems like others have pretty solid success with it).
Certain coir brands actually intentionally add trichoderma to their coir when it's intended for horticulture. That being said, proper pasteurization should kill any trich in the coir even if it was added intentionally. Which "bucket tek" are you using exactly?

Read all the recommended teks. It's my impression that properly pasteurized CVG is the one sure way to go.
