Have some things to do later today so i'll only be able to get a good 10 hour soak before straining, simmering, straining and PC'ing. Do you think a 10 hour soak is long enough or should i just try my damndest to get back tonite for a 20 hour soak?

If i soaked for 10 hours, simmered for about 40 minutes, how much should i let the seed drain before putting em in the jars? I cant seem to find how wet they should be.

Pennington's Wild Bird seed 6 day's after innoculated with karo water liquid mycelium(GT's).
It was rinsed thouroughly,soaked overnight,rinsed again,simmered for 30 minutes(medium low),rinsed again while hot,drained for 20 minutes,loaded into jars and pc'd for 90 minutes at 15psi.

They havent finished yet,but you can see it works-pics later!

beautiful! Did you case the birdseed directly or spawn it to something. This will be my first time with grains and im thinking it'll be easier to just case the seed, and mess with spawning next time.

When WBS jars are colonizing, should i be shaking them at all or anything, or will they colonize fine on their own?

I shake my jars twice-once when I innoculate to distribute the mycelium(or spores)and again after they show substantial growth(meaning at least 1/4 total of jar). After the last shaking they will colonize it completely, very quick.

I think the soak and simmer is overkill. A 30min simmer will pop all the seeds meaning there fully cooked. Give em a 25-30 min simmer dump itno a strainer and rinse well with hot water uisng your sinks sprayer then use cold water so you can load the jars by hand. I only let is strain for about 3-5 min. I use this meahtod and i get no buildup of starches at the bottom of my jars and there well hydrated.
