Yup. Ovoids are found in urban/suburban areas out west.

So this isn't an ID request, pretty sure I have a whole lot of agrocybe here. I'm just wondering if you fine folks with more experience and success can tell me if this is a good indicator species and the habitat looks good for ovoids. Thanks!

Went and checked back on some ovoids this morning. They grow nicely in five or so days!

Somebody scored the matured mushrooms from this spot after I visited yesterday.

Found these guys fruiting in another patch.

Just checked on a few ovoids and they are a little bit bigger since last checking 4 days ago. They are around 2 inches tall but not much girth and caps are max 1 inch across. Since we have a few days of no rain is it better to harvest now or wait until the rain comes back in a few days?

The albino ones are my favorite. Such a cool look to them. It’s really interesting how one patch can carry so much variation. At this patch I find wavy ovoids, knobby cap looking ovoids, albino looking ovoids, and saucer cap ovoids as well.

Lmao! I think I found those same goddamn patches of agrocybes. I was super stoked to find my first voids and then I realized that they were uhh. Not the right ones.
I am pretty sure the only ones that are even close to actives are the bottom left of this image but even then I am an idiot so I don’t trust myself not to accidentally kill myself. Agrocybes looked so spot on with the gills and shape of the cap and even a light brown tint that I swore I had them. And many of the fieldcaps grow in the same area that hosts the others from what I understand. They also look very similar at a young age to actives as far as the yellow color and clustering. Is there a way to differentiate the agro or fieldcaps from the void besides bruising or brown color that they get later in their life?

Yo Sakrelig! A good differentiation method for ovoids vs. Agrocybes is giving them a good sniff. Ovoids smell a lot like fresh cubensis (and they smell strong as balls), but Agrocybe smell like bad peanuts, piss and disappointment. The veil is different on Agrocybes and ovoids, Agrocybes have a veil that comes down from the stem but ovoid veils come up from the stem from what I've seen.

Thankyou man! I appreciate that really. I guess I’m going to have to take a trip back up to the spot today and look around a different area than the last time. This is my first time ever hunting ovoids so I am pretty shitty at it lol. And the general area where I know of them is so large and foresty that it’s difficult to navigate sometimes so pretty much anything I find im like wow I found them! Wow I found them! Wow I found.... nothing

Anyone found Ovoids in the Willamette Valley? I know they are here but I don’t know if they are abundant enough to successfully find them. I know some parks where the river floods through the woods and into a slough in the winter but dries back up in the summer. Would that be a good place to look? There’s lots of grass and vegetation.
