Cortinarius sp. is my guess.

For better pictures please place the mushrooms on a plain, evenly colored surface so
that it is easier to see details and thus more suitable for proper identification, as well
as you'll maintain their stability and avoid blur which easily occurs when you hold them
in your hand.

All that stuff lingering in the background is confusing and makes it difficult to
discern minutiae in the objects of interest - i.e. the mushrooms. Also, now I got
a craving for crisps and I have to go to the shop down the road to get some.

And how are you going to do that? There are no active cortinarius species. Some are deadly poisonous.

Do you have access to a mass spectrometer? Because eating them would be a very bad idea..

Psilocybin Is Not A Compound That Magically Soaks Up Into Random Mushrooms. Psilocybin Occurs In Certain Species & Only Those Species.

Mate you don't know that, there's probably more species of mushroom undocumented than there are known. Its worth a test unless my eyes are decieving me, they look nothing like cortinarius varieties

Your eyes are deceiving you because you have an inactive Cortinarius species without a doubt. How can you possibly say they don't look like Cortinarius when that's exactly what they are? Do a quick google search for "Cortinarius" and you'll see the same purple and brown toned mushrooms that you have right there.

Don't waste your time on this when there are plenty of Psilocybe species to be found in New Zealand.

It's a mixed collection of two or possibly three Cortinarius species and not well collected, by that I mean the specimens are very damaged making identification difficult.
In saying that, the one in your hand is Cortinarius bellus, do not consume any of these, they are not what you are looking for.

I Don't Know Why Folks Post ID Requests & Then When We Tell Them It's Not Active, They're All Like "You Don't Know That, You Don't Know What Your Talking About".

It's Like, If You Aren't Going To Believe Us, Why Do You Even Post An ID Request?
