TLDR - I found an epic sub patch today in my dads vege garden...
So... I'm back home in beautiful NZ staying with fam for this fucken COVID bullshit. I've been out hunting EVERY day for the last two weeks searching every possible patch in my district and managed to only find a total of ~200gm (wet) of scrappy subs. I'm not complaining though cause it's been dry AF and hot to boot, so I'm happy with finding anything active TBH.
Couple days ago my ULTRA conservative religious dad says "oh there's a couple mushrooms next to the house". My dumb ass couldn't even be bothered to go have a look, thinking they would just be Leratiomyces. Today he comes in holding two giant but munted shrooms that look promising, so I rush outside and... fuck me dead. a lovely big P. Subaeruginosa flush right beneath my bedroom window.
All up I picked two hundred and ninety six muthafucken grams throughout his vege garden and have now started watering the 50 odd pins leftover.
This is my first time seeing Subs in a vege garden which is 98% topsoil, grass clippings, and kitchen compost. Prior to this I have only ever hunted in the classic spots on or near decaying wood, eg tree mulch/bush/grassy forest. The Mycelium is healthy and ubiquitous (especially under the strawberries) and only fruits when it hits a random piece of mulch. FYI the most popular plants seem to be the broccoli, strawbs, eggplant and capsicum.
The coolest thing though is that it has opened up a dialogue between me and the old man about the benefits of psychedelics which has always been a taboo topic. I've given him a bunch of material to read and I think there's a good chance that he might be open to microdosing at some point in the future. Boom Shiva jai Shambho!
