    #26631436 - 04/27/20 05:51 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

http://

I'm very sorry these mushrooms have been damaged, I know they're hard enough to identify as it is.
....id squashed them in my pocket while driving.

Location. Melbourne Australia.
Habitat. Bark chips below tall eucalypt trees.

I think they might be Coprinellus micaceus mushrooms.

Yeh mate! You could be right.
Pretty spot on. Geez how Do Some of you guys get so good at this? Do you have like a book or encyclopedia that you scroll through to narrow it down??

Or do you memorize a particular 'family' of fungi and then go from there ? Whatever it is, I cant figure it out and it's got my head spinning!!!

The same mushrooms show up for ID requests over and over so I end up memorising at least part of their name which makes them easy to find on the internet.

I should start printing off the Wikipedia page for these mushrooms and keep them in a folder.

Some people like doing crosswords and Sudoku, others like to identify mushrooms. I like to identify mushrooms.
