Weight-to-Volume Grain Spawn Calculator?
    #26631303 - 04/27/20 03:51 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

Is there a calculator to figure out the Weight-to-Volume ratio for grain spawn? Like how much volume does a 1 lbs bag of grain use up? Or a 3 lbs bag of grain?

I went and weighted it. 1 litre of dry oats weighs 440g. 1l of dry grain will fill 3 1l jars. So, you should be able to yield 6,8 jars/kg of oats.

So 1 Liter of dry grain was about half a Kilo in weight?

I wonder what the weight/volume is when prepped....

I have no idea at the moment, but it's irrelevant. 1kg of dry grain will yield about 7 jars, depends on how much you fill them.

Ok 7 Quart jars = about 2 gallons

1 kg = 2.2 lbs

So 2.2 lbs fills about 2 gallons worth, or about 1 lbs per gallon. Good stuff!

Knowing your weight before and after is how you find your moisture level
