Found a nice patch of good looker subs, also a handful of slug eaten mangled specimens. They are still going into the dehydrator, curious as to what's everyones too skungy level?

Good bro, dehydrate those they are fine for consumption.
As long as they are not hard and black and rotting then I harvest them.
If you would eat it, then pick it, it's food.
Sometimes you have to share some of the caps with slugs, even specimens that are half slug eaten are fine to be harvested and dehydrated.

Cool pic there bro. How deep in bush you go? Or do you stick to the tracks and peripheral? Chur

Shot, I can pretty much always see the track from where I look for them, for some reason I never seem to find them if I go too deep.

Indeed. I have not seen things this dry and sparse in 30 years of picking.
Wow. Saying that makes me feel not very young.

After moving to Auckland 2 years ago, I haven't really had the chance to go hunting, but I was in Wellington for work and managed to go for a walk through my favourite bush:

Not a big haul, but it was nice to be at it again. The two main patches I normally have a lot of luck in showed significant signs of other hunters and was empty
I always wonder, does WCC actively remove or favourite fungi?
I might try collecting spores from these and try cultivating for next year. Haven't seen much success cultivating these but it could be worth a shot.

Bro i don’t know about the council (highly doubt it) but I swear every patch I’ve checked has signs of mycelium being removed. I’ll see pins one day and the next day the whole chunk of bark that was pinning has been removed.
What the fuck is up with that? Is this the new normal for shrooming? Nab some myc before it can fruit and sporulate, before anyone else has a chance to find them? Poor form IMO

Went out in the bush today and found some big amanita muscaria but nothing harvested just yet, might be a bit too warm in Auckland still. Hoping for some rain to get things pumping.
