MMM mega WAH. yeah left it another night and the slug had a go at the other side of the cap. Not even going to bother drying that one out, stem is going in chip to try to get a bit more mycelium going. Had a scratch around on a few of the baskets i started and seeing some good growth in one especially.... hopefully its the right type. Don't give up. there has to be at least one more WAH out there...

Well I thought that I would keep peoples hopes up. I have a dozen little ones coming on. I'm sure these pins are much darker than any of the previous ones. There have been about ten of these go black and die unfortunately so far, the last flushes always had a couple blacken and die young, not this many though.
This will be the fourth flush from this pot this season.

Next season I have a few ideas to see if I can improve yield.

This all that's around down here at the moment

Camellia petal blight fungus ...
Guys, I've been following this thread right from wayback in the season and want to thank you all here for the abundance of knowledge. Mid season, and I'm way down south, I first came across this site looking for info on ipomea seed, but over the years have had a great interest in mycology, enough that when I noticed some small LBMs in the garden last year to have thought in passing that with its yellow color and parasol shaped cap top it looked rather like a Psilocybe sp. Well, I'm certainly going to be more vigilant next year as I now know what a sub looks like and will be joining you on the hunt - and not just for my usual birch boletes.

Awwwe, poor Rodger got a bit scratched getting his mid September haul that probably out weighed most if not all of my days.... hell I'd guess a few folks didn't get that much all season. Trying really hard to feel sorry for you man, but can't quite get there. I'd be interested to know if kiwi89's subs get to maturity.

Geez if thats all you got this season then you needa get out there more or something lol, that haul is pretty normal for a single patch and most people have multiple patches.

I got a good few hauls about this size this season, maybe some slightly bigger, and believe me I was out there putting in the work to find them as I started the season not even knowing that shrooms grew in my area or really how to identify them. I was just saying I've seen a few folks report their season total as being under 10g dried, maybe they weren't putting in the work or maybe they had bad luck or are just starting out but I'm sure they would have happily taken a few finger cuts to get rodgers haul. I'd be interested to know what RTR's season total was - probably well into the hundreds I'm guessing and thats despite him constantly complaining about worst season ever etc. On a good season he must clean up, I mean how many mushrooms you want to eat??? I think he's like one of those uber rich people but just with mushrooms, come on rodger do a bit of mushroom philanthropy, spread the wealth.

They are just starting to open up now. Seventy percent of them have died though. I am wondering if it is the heat or the much longer days that is doing it. Started watering every day in a effort to save the last of them and moved them to a cooler darker spot.

Okay even more than I thought. I'm pretty happy with the approx 2oz dried I got this year, more than enough for me and a few friends to have a good few trips. Would love to up that amount though, problem with a small city is the relatively small possible area to hunt.... watch out Rodger I'm coming to the big smoke next year
