If your going to pine forest, i expect you’ll be looking for P.aucklandii

Is that true for Christchurch or just the north island?
Aaah, no that won’t work. . . Try beech forest and P.makarore? I have a few friends who would find P.subs in pine around Dunedin (25 years ago) so go for a look. . .

They don't call these auckland-iae for no reason...
And if you want my 2 cents. Don't even bother with forest hunting. Especially if you are a noob. Suburban council made woodchip gardens with flax bushes are a great place to check. Easy terrain. Easy bounty.

See that’s why you shouldn’t listen to dumb cunts like me hahaha

Hit up dat woodchip bruh

Daddy's slightly better than your Weak Ass Haul:
One wee patch of habitat still had a handfull for me... everywhere else: disappointingly, not even pins. I feel like our WAS (weak ass season) down here is at an end; i fore-see maybe one last WAH from me if I'm lucky...

Yes, I cannot count past 9 (upper limit of a WAH) and I am unable to count how many in your haul, therefore not a true WAH, try less hard. On a less serious note does the season down south generally last longer than the north or is it the other way round. I'm up the top and am noticing a big drop off the last 3 weeks. I was told the season goes till August or September but it doesn't feel like that's going to happen.

Chur fuck yeah. I'm loving my photos as well... I pretty much went to the park yesterday JUST to take that image for you people. (And for my own wankbank)... I collected only two subs with serious bug damage at that patch yesterday. I knew it would make for a gangsta photo! Was so public and so many other humans around that I did my best to capture a good photo in one take.
Now you say that it makes perfect sense.. yeah those little purple flowers really enhance the colour contrast

This last weeks weather has helped AKL, the cold wet weather has been in the Waikato for awhile and there’s been some good finds down there. Easy searching in Auckland this morning.

@Sam11: in C-town, In the last 2 seasons, I've found no new growth after June ends... ...traditionally it has been: rain in autumn, turning to clear nights & frosts around the end of June... this year-> some earlier frosts & bugger-all rain (but a late burst of rain and mild temperatures recently). Subsequently, this is my first year of finding fruits into July.

Yeah we have had ideal conditions up here, but the spots that I know are only putting out a few pins...

Nice subs.
Yip, new planted natives along the motorway. North facing, the better patches are under a juvenile nikau

Here's my pin patch, and dirty thumb.... in the process of aborting. So sad.
Checked these Friday and they looked promising but this morning the caps of most had already started turning pale yellow and seem to be giving up on life.

Just the one today. My other patch (subsectoids) is near a video camera, so have to fall into the bark area. And one is better than none. I remember the days just walking around and finding nothing .

Easy come easy go I guess. Back this morning and they had all been scooped up bark and all. One or two pins hidden away still and a few squashed ones lying about.

My Mr's done a good'un too. Found a rather bountiful new area down her road. Very public so it's hard to get pictures and harvest without being seen but these fellas are out in the open and nobody seems to know about them but me
