HUNTING IN PLAIN SITE:
I’ve had to devise a cover story as to why I’m in a garden bed in a very busy urban area. This is the result:

Without the skull and miniature Peruvian gem wagon I’m just a crazy dude in a garden bed in front of like 20 people. This is slightly less weird.

Also take photos, good photos, take a spore print and do an ID request. Look at heaps of pics and maybe have some with you for reference. Know what you're looking for. Good luck.

Check out the barkchip garden beds in council gardens, otherwise I guess pine forests are maybe your best bet. As a first timer I was a bit careless, I'd suggest you keep in mind that you might want to come back a second time to harvest the goodness. Tread lightly and carry scissors.
Up between Whangarei and Kaitia, I'm pretty lucky that I have access to a nice farm that I've seen what I think are active species on, but never been brave enough to pick any. I've heard pine forrests seem to be a pretty good hunting spot but I was also wondering if native bush is any good for finding them. And yup I will definately be respecting any patches I find and treating them like a secret fishing spot

This is from a new spot that didn’t produce last year. It looked so ready but the chip had only gone down during summer 2019. It needed 12 months and sure enough this year it’s bloomed

Hi Cat Transcendence,
Have you checked those mushrooms for blue bruising? Have you done a spore print?
From your pictures, they don't look like subs to me at all.

All Of Those Look To Be Psilocybe Subaeruginosa, Nice Finds
I Can See Bluish Bruising On All Of Them & You Can See Purplish Spore Deposits On One Of The Caps.

Going Off The Middle Picture. Look At The Edges Of The Caps & Gills For The Bruising, It Can Be Seen On Some Of The Stems As Well.
Look At The Upper Left Middle For The Purplish Spore Deposits.
Edit: Spore Prints On Every Mushroom Would Help.

Be nice to people Roger. He was only trying to look out for a fellow shroomer. Being right or wrong doesn't have any bearing on his intentions. Why don't you explain how you are confident that they are subs rather than tell him to shut up? Noobies deserve respect too, even the over-confident ones

I almost guarantee he's not trolling. I also almost guarantee he's not "retarded". He's just a beginner. Relax and give people the benefit of the doubt sometimes.
Anyway here's some subs
