Using an oster blender with a RM mason jar is the best way to go, whether you use an agar plate or a tissue sample. So worth the investment & you can get one cheap at your local thrift store - all you need is a working base unit, collar, seal & blade assembly. Use whatever size RM mason jar is appropriate for your needs at the moment. You don't even need to invest in a special pour lid or container, you can use a sterilized spoon or pour a thick slurry directly from the jar in your SAB/GB into another jar or bag. Or make a watery slurry from inner clone tissue or clean agar plate and use sterilized syringes to suck up from blended jar & save them refrigerated for later inoculations. Can make your hobby a dream or up your game for the producers. Just make sure everything is clean, sterile and use proper technique with a SAB/GB or flow hood. As a bonus you can use the blender with lemon juice to take your magic tea to the next level too... win/win!

Alright, PESA streaked 1/1, made in to LC after a transfer 1/5 then a perfectly symmetrical rhizo growth from the LC test plate was transferred twice:

I let this final transfer grow out...had other stuff come up, life finally settled down a bit, as settled down as things can be in this crazy time, and I put it to grain 3/22. I've had some *ahem* temperature difficulties - my fiancee moved in right before quarantine and likes to mess around with the thermostat, which I didn't figure out for a few weeks. it's been anywhere from 60-70 where I do my cult. Not exactly speed run this time, but this jar should be good in a day or so, it'll get a shoebox:

No signs of growth from APE or Ps. Cyan plates yet. Not even under the scope. KSSS going strong though:

Going to let this one go a bit and then start looking for a nice transfer. plate is clean no bacteria or mold so I can give it a minute and wait for something really good looking.
Here is some KSSS mycelium encountering ungerminated spores:

My King oyster from the grocery store mushroom is on LIPA Tek fuel pellets in a bag. I did a G2G to 2 more jars with a few grains from the original, then spawned 2 bags with what was left. It was hard to see the grains in the well condensated bag and when they were visible and the mycelium had grown, one was way less mixed than the other:

Behind those bags are 2 of the 4 additional KO bags I spawned this morning. My favorite King Oyster meal has been shredding it and tossing it in a brown sauce style stir fry, it's been delicious. Looks like that's pretty much all I'll be eating in a few weeks.
Pioppino (chestnut or whatever) grain jar started to show mold, started from square 1 with that culture. a pin sprouted in the dish I took the wedge from for grain so I popped that to another plate as well as a regular transfer to a separate one. Shimeji will be spawned within the week to sterilized sawdust in bottles, and the Maitake is still rocking. I'll be fruiting that one in a bag per Tradd Cotter's method. I'll detail that out as it happens.

This is the longest culture I’ve ever kept going. Its the one I started for lagm20. I took a few clones my last round but lost them so I’m going for more this round.

Is this the one like 11 transfers deep??
Post a comparison when it’s done of the first grow vs this one! I’m really curious about how transfers narrow genetics now after my PE clones.
This is the same clone t3 vs t1. I was so amazed the difference a couple transfers made.

This ones only T6 but I’m pretty sure the one I’m dropping to grain tomorrow is T10.
I’ll for sure post a pic. That’s an amazing difference. Crazy what a few transfers can do I always used to try and rush things and be lazy but now I’m realizing it pays off to put in the work.. who woulda thought

I'm too lazy for a full update, this thing went a bit sideways on me
Sometime in January I must have labelled a PE agar plate transfer as ecuador by mistake. So I had all these shoeboxes starting to fruit and sure enough a bunch of them were putting out blobs . So I cased everything I could that was labelled ecuador. Some are growing non-PE fruits that I assume are actually ecuador but, some look like penis envy, without a doubt
So I managed to get to a harvest but I definitely messed up a label somewhere. Oh well These boxes were both labeled ecuador

At least some it actually turned out to be ecuador. The fruits are small yield wasn't epic but, it did start pinning in 12 days
If anyone is wondeirng wtf those plastic things are, they are just lids to e-juice containers. There was a couple sketchy patches that looked like they were going to turn green, so I salted them and smushed those over top into the substrate to attempt to contain it. I used to use a small glass jar but this things work better if the patch is small enough

Underbeds I believe.
They’re awesome man like 4 shoeboxes put together. They dub great but you only really need it for huge ones cuz the tubs kinda deep.

Glad you guys posted to this thread again, I was worried that it was going to die completely before I grew a damn mushroom. I've been updating my OP here and there with pics, but now I'm in the final stretch. I expect to finally harvest the first flush for a couple of shoeboxes tomorrow morning.
This has been a humbling but ultimately educational experience. I took up this hobby last fall after doing very little research and did like everything wrong but still ended with more mushrooms than I knew what to do with. So after I read a bunch of stuff on this website, and learned about agar and surface conditions and grain hydration and lots of other fucking things, I just figured I would have more success then ever. But so far that hasn't been the case.
But whatever, I'm still having fun, and look, I successfully LAGM'd:
Quote:
April 27: Looks like I'm going to get half-way decent flushes out of my Mars boxes. Veils started to break this afternoon, I think that I'll wait until morning to harvest just to see how far the caps open and maybe take some prints. Also plan on taking a clone from one of the larger clusters--these genetics seem to make clusters more than other strains I've managed to fruit.

The Koh Samui boxes are strange and disappointing. The fruits are showing up almost entirely as side and bottom pins. The funny thing is that I thought I built and hydrated and tamped down these boxes almost identically to how I did the Mars boxes, which have like zero side pins. It makes me think that genetics plays a significant role in tendency to fruit on the sides vs. top surface. The other really weird thing that's going on with these KS boxes is there are strange bumps growing all over the surface. I posted a pic to the contamination forum a few days ago when I first noticed them and somebody said it looked like the mycelium was producing a ton of metabolites. But now that the bumps have grown they look less like metabolites. I wonder if these are what people refer to as "blobbing"?

Definitely looks like blobs nevereat. Those are nice clusters too I don’t think I’ve seen mars before.
Different kinds definitely like different stuff, and some will always get lots of side pins ime.
I’ve noticed for some reason I get more sidepins if I prep the coir drier than the variety likes. Maybe it’s just me.
In lagm news my playa u is finally making mushrooms, and both toc clones are flushing again. Also got some pretty big second flush gt going.
And my pe6 is way old now but keeps cranking out a few huge shrooms at a time. This time was like 65 wet between three mushrooms, last time was also three mushrooms but one was 49g on its own. I haven’t been hydrating it really either, it looks like a dry brick of coir almost.
