Does this look healthy? (Agar plates)
    #26629316 - 04/26/20 09:35 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

I am new to plates and my first few attempts yielded grayish growth. These look white and fluffy, but I am not sure if this is healthy growth or not.

Thanks for looking.

They do look healthy, and ready for transfers to new plates.

How did you inoculate them? If you opened the lid and scraped a spore print all around then it could definitely all be myc, if you just swabbed a spot and brought it to the plate then where’d all the other colonies come from?

It looks like a bunch of recently terminated cube myc from what I can see, especially the right plate, but you’ve got the whole things wrapped in saran yo! I caint see

Sorry, the TEK I used mentioned to wrap the plates in saran. It is potato agar with green food dye. I inoculated them from syringe in a SAB. So the next step is to move some of the healthy looking growth to a new plate? Then can I go to a spawn bag or would a bed be preferred?

Thank you for the advice, I have only ever had luck with jars, trying to get a little more advanced.

Agar to grain to bulk sub. CVG. That is the way to get started and you can read and experiment from there but that process will get you rolling plenty.

What looks terminated about that growth?

You're supposed to cut a 1.5" wide roll off a saran wrap roll and then wrap with that around the edges.

Yes, I guess I went overboard...
