Some transfer plates, and concern over a contam
    #26628770 - 04/26/20 03:43 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

Taking another crack at this hobby has been a real lifeline with all the pandemic craziness.
Starting with a Cambodian print, I got to these T2 plates, except 3a' which is T1. (Rest assured, I will change my weird plate numbering system after this line) Plan is if/when they are clean enough, they'll go to oat jars.

But then, 3b gained a red-orange spot growing on it. Limited research tells me this could be bacteria (serratia?) probably from my not-quite-refined sterile technique. Question now is: Should I be more wary of all the plates since this one is contaminated?

Yes that looks like a bacterial satellite. Yes most of those are created by improper sterile technique.
All of them look good even 3b. You can transfer away from that contamination. You could use 3b as an observation plate, to see how the mycelium reacts when it reaches the contamination.

Obviously don't transfer the orange dot it's probably something that just
fell on the plate. But it all looks like good mycelium that you can transfer
From its edges or put it to grain. Id just do a transfer from 3B to another
plate and see what happens from it.

Update on plate 3b:

It decided to grow right over that orange spot (5:30-6 section in the picture) but now... there's a strange line that appeared on the growth to the left of it. Hmm... something sneaky there?

Definitely don't trust the transfer made around there anymore. Keeping an eye on both just in case.

That line is a little odd but doesn't really look like anything growing there
Probably will be alright though
