San Pedro out of dormancy question * 1
    #26627458 - 04/25/20 03:19 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

Hey everyone!

I recently brought my San Pedro out of dormancy for the winter. I live in Canada and kept it in my cold/dark stairwell all winter. Decided now that it's been sunnier it's time to let er rip. I noticed after two days in the sun the top is getting weirdly yellowish-brown & shrivel-ey . Just wondering if anyone can assist with diagnosing what's going on...? Whether or not this is normal after it being in the dark so long, or if I'm doing something obviously wrong, or it's got some kind of infection/infestation.... I'd love to hear input.

This is the first cactus I've had growing. I had one season of etiolated growth, which I chopped off last spring. It calloused over and then formed a nice pup which grew all last summer & is basically what you see now.

Thanks!

& if better pictures are required, let me know.

It's sunburned. Looks like it may have grown a bit in the stairwell.

Best to move them out to shade/partial shade for a week or two if they have grown over winter.

It should be fine but will have the scars there now.

I let mine stand one week under tree in shade when taking them out after winter. If too much in hurry there will be sun burns. Mine get sun through glass during winter so 2 weeks might be better for you.
