Me and my Golden Teacher need your help! Please ;)

Hello fellow Myco-lovers out there,
at first i wanted to greet you all as i just made this account.
I'm a newbie regarding the cultivation of our beloved mushrooms (2nd grow) and i got a problem with my golden teacher.

As you can see i got some weird spots on the caps, and after some research i think i might have a problem with some bacterial contamination, am i correct?
I already began with lowering the humidity in the bag, the picture was before i started doing this. I also read about treating them with a 150ppm chloride solution, if so how do i apply it? Spray the fruits directly with the solution or water the substrate with it?
I would appreciate any kind of help to save my little babies
Thanks in advance and best regards, greetings from Austria Rayleen

Dont spray the fruits with anything, the spots are from water on your bag dropping or touching the fruits. In my non profesional opinion, id say they will more than fine just let them grow and keep water from dropping on them. Also fat pins good job

Hm i didn't think about that, atleast i wouldn't have thought that droplets of water would harm the fruits in such a way, you can even see that the stem got a groove on it all the way down to the bottom. I generally moisten them by using a medicinal respirator, which uses air pressure to atomize destilled water for a foggy breathe, i just spray additionally when i see that there is less condensation on the bag, and i also just spray the bag itself.
I'll try to adjust the humidity a tad down so no drops will form harming my fruits. Thanks for your advice and your compliment, you also got some nice looking fruits there in your signature i gotta admit <3
Is setting up an own cake like you did far advantageous over using a pre-made growing kit? I'm really interested in taking it to the next level the next time
Here i give you a look at my B+ doing just fine, some aborts but i'm fine with that.(don't wanna take them out of the bag just for a pic, time will come)

Thanks and best regards, Rayleen

Again more nice looking fruits lol, and yea the costs of grow kits are absurd, a 50 pound bag of oats is like 20$ lasts a long long time, youll need a pressure cooker if you dont already have it though.
also im not saying its your misting, im saying its most likely a droplet on your bag falling, water drops that dont evaporate quickly from the fruits definitely mess can them up or discolor. When i said dont spray the fruits i meant with whichever concoction you were planning to spray them with, i wasnt inferring you are directly misting them, but let them grow theyll be ok

B+ actually beat out Golden Teachers in flush size, potency, and ease of growth. Dont ever buy a grow kit - its extremely wasteful as the items they provide you could be provided separately for cheaper (higher quality too.) I have bought two grow kits, both of which needed supplemental equipment they did not provide and one of them was badly designed in such a way I needed to modify it; so imo grow kits are a no good. Since you're using such small containers I would suggest you take a look into the shoebox tek and graduate from that up to an unmodified (Or modified I have had success with both) monotub. I use mainly Rye grain for bulk spawn and PF tek for smaller grows or when I'm messing with genetics. If you gather spores from your fruiting mushrooms in a clean environment (assuming you have an SAB or a Flow Hood) you can start to use agar which will speed up colonization. Water spots are easy to handle on fruits, just lower the humidity for a couple days and allow the fruits to loose a bit of moisture - increasing FAE can also achieve this. Also using a bag will create higher condensation than say using a sterilite fruiting chamber which has the rain affect. I love the look of those B+!
Check out my Golden Teacher grow here for some ideas: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26587402
Then you can take a look at how agar can assist you here: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26604440

Thanks, i appreciate it ;D
Yeah i just read about using a chlorine solution in case of a bacterial contamination, but now that you cleared things up i got that out of my mind Also, thinking about it, spraying fruits you want to eat with a chlorine solution... well, don't want to elaborate any further how stupid that would be xD
Could i maybe ask you another question? You can see all this tiny aborts on my second pic, is there any chance they will grow full after i pick the big fruits, or should i continue picking them like before, just ripping everything inclusive aborts out of the cake?
//edit: God, when i see that box in your signature i'd just like to face dive deeply into it, so delicious <3<3

Aborted fruits will not continue to grow, once the flush completes clear the myc of all aborts if possible.

Wow thanks, i'm trying my best with the current grow, i'll upload some more pictures when it's done ;D Sadly i have no pictures of my last B+ grow, you would have been proud of me the fruits looked even better than they do now.
And also thanks for your tipps, there are many terms you used that i still have to learn lol ;D I'll keep that in mind and review it again when my current grow is done, this whole stuff sounds so interesting to me, you wouldn't believe me how much i'd like to do my own box, maybe creating a sterile space in my locker ;D
Greetings

Okay, is it ok though to leave really little aborts in the box when i soak them for the next flush? I kinda read somewhere that the aborts are nourishment for the mycelium to create more and better fruits the next flush? Or did i read bollocks there?

Look more like PE. That’d be a nice surprise lol.
But yeah the cap splotches are just from water sitting on top.

That's true actually, the myc does expand and eat the aborted fruits as extra nutes. You can leave the little tiny ones on there but I always attempt to remove as much as I can without damaging the mother myc.

do you mean his b+ (second pic he posted)
also op, there is a different between halted pins and aborts, pick off the aborts as theyll rot away and can leave a spot for contams to take hold. stalled pins as i read from roger rabit, are just pins that have not gone black or do not have that weird cap shape aborts make, they are just waiting their turn for nutes, probably in the next flush. If you cant really tell the difference just pick them to be safe.

Yep, they're a species of gigantic cubensis mushrooms that have the potential to be bigger and thicker than your legs no lie.

Also if those are PE, the caps wont really open up, so spores dont drop. So youll want to try and find a way to swab the spores, or learn agar (it isnt that bad) and clone them to keep your culture going. I havent been able to get PE where i am as of yet.

Ah well from the side it looks more like a normal cube doing some weird stuff.
Yeah penis envy is a mutant strain that’s unusually potent.

Albino PE and I think maybe PEu get those bowling pin shape pins like your first pic.

Lol idk about professional. Some bird seed mixed with coir put by a window.
This stuffs not as hard as it seems at first, just a lot of info to take in but if you pick a method and follow directions you’ll be set.
I’ve only been doing this a few months myself, you’ll be surprised how many mushrooms you’ll grow real fast if you stick to it.

It looks professional from my point of view atleast
Which method would you recommend to begin with? Using such a still air chamber or a filtered box with ventilation?

SAB is cheap and easy.
I think the easiest grow is a quart of wbs into a coir/verm shoebox with a little top layer of coir.
No misting or fanning you just wait for mushrooms.
