I wasn’t going to post this because I didn’t document anything but then I decided to go ahead and post it anyway. Below are images of one of my indoor wine cap grows. They were fruited from a jar prepared from the procedure in Ziran’s Up dated PF Tek Guide except the 1 part BRF consisted of 50% BRF & 50% sawmill sawdust instead of 100% BRF. I used wide mouth pint jars instead of wide mouth half pint jars. I used LI from a 3rd generation agar wedge that was from a cloned wild specimen last year to inoculate 6 jars.

This is where I am not sure of the exact date of inoculation and the exact date of applying a casing. I’m pretty sure they were inoculated toward the end of April. I think toward the end of May I applied a casing of potting soil and regular soil referenced in this thread. I also added a small amount of gypsum and crushed oyster shell to the casing mix. I think my jars may have contaminated with bacteria but I decided to try to fruit them anyway. Some of them didn’t colonize completely and they stated to get that greasy look to them so I decided to try to fruit them.

After I applied the casing I put them in my basement still in the jars in the open air and no direct light on them. I misted them once sometimes twice daily. The mycelium ran through the casing pretty quick but not sure of the exact duration. After about 2 weeks+ there were no pins. I decided then to apply a new casing to 4 of the 6 jars. I think this may have been the middle of June. 2 jars I cased with an unpasteurized 100% peat casing with hydrated lime and oyster shell added & the other 2 jars I just covered with a layer of wet straw. The last 2 jars I didn’t re-case. I was going to bury them outside to see if they would fruit however I never got around to it. After about a week I noticed a pin on one of the jars that wasn’t re-cased. This hasn’t been misted for at least a week so I basically neglected it.  I then started misting it again and couple mores pins showed after a couple of days. The other jar that wasn’t re-case also started to pin a couple of days after this one but those appeared to abort or stall. The 4 re-cased jars haven’t shown any sign of pinning. I might take the peat casing off & re-apply the potting soil base casing again if I get time.

I have 2 tubs I’m trying to get to fruit too. Both have unpasteurized peat casing. The one tub has been misted about every other day & the other tub I haven’t misted for a week (I just misted it today for the first time) just to see what happens. I cased them on July 4th. My house is 68-72 degrees so they are incubated at those temperatures. I move them to my basement when it is time for fruiting & my basement is usually 63-66 degrees this time of year. I would like to try this again with the jars but right now I’m working on indoor & outdoor fruitings/beds of Shaggy Mane, Lions Mane. Reddening Lepiota, Wood Blewitt, and Morel so I don’t have the time right now.

The next time I try this I'll be a little more attentive to detail & hopefully I'll be able to get them to fruit again.
