BRF Agar recipe clarification * 1
    #26626228 - 04/25/20 04:28 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

I have been making my BRF agar at

6g BRF
9g Agar (telephone brand)
400ml water

Is this too soft/hard for tissue cloning?

I could have swore that others use
9g BRF
6g agar
400ml of water

maybe I got it backwards?

No, but I always use this recipe, however - I am cloning and doing xfers, so I was wondering if soft/harder agar is more ideal.
I did just read thru that entire post from BOD and i think I found my answer. As long as the myc colonizes, should be ok for cloning

To my understanding, u want agar semi-firm which should be good enough for any mycology, such as germinating, transfers, isolating and cloning.

In other words, agar is "Universal" if u make the recipie right.

I find it interesting that Bodihista found that a 1.5% BRF ratio was the best. That seems to be the GoldiLocks Zone of BRF Agar :takingnotes:
