Hey guy first time using agar. cut it into little strips and used flame sterilized knife each time to move the little pieces into the jars. after i got them in i tried mixing them by shaking the popcorn up......
well WTF...
lol it got stuck to the sides and would not move for anything, literally had to put 3 back into still air box and use knife to push them down while i gently shook them. anyone ever have this problem?
should i have put the agar in the frige so it was not so soft? was there to much residual moister in the jar from possibly the popcorn still being to warm when i put it in?
anyone else have this sticky experience??

Agar will always stick to a side of a jar. Drop and let it colonize before shaking. Those are all most likely contaminated in some way.

You might be fine, but putting enough of your blade in the jar to knock those off the side almost gaurontees that some part of the handle dropped nasties in there. I can't say I haven't done it, but it's sage advice to just let it go and then shake. Eventually you'll get your technique down to shake them into the spawn where they don't hop up and stick to the side when you shake. I saw a cool vid on here someone contributed where they demonstrated the same shake method I use (sinks the wedges pretty well). I'll try to find it. I love popcorn for some reason. Not a lot of inoculation points but it is a beautiful shade of yellow and shakes like a champ! lol

Pro tip: if you make your agar soft af you can just shake it into oblivion and watch that bitch colonize like greased lightning...

I am working with Deer corn at the moment but same shit different drying times.
Can't wait to see how it turns out.
I also like Alaska said think the more you open your jar and fuck with it the higher your contam rate is. Just math.
