Hi folks, I recently began growing with PFTEK style box from Cyclocybe - Rye grain substrate with Coir Gypsum and coffee. I injected 1ml of Golden Teacher Spores into each of the 6 ports and it's been in a sealed bag since (with a small opening to breath). I kept it in a dark boiler cupboard for 6 weeks with varying temperatures, then above a fridge, now in the room our of direct sunlight which is on the colder side. I'm 13 weeks in and although there has been a bit of growth in recent weeks, progress is now slow to non-existent. Does this look normal and do you have any tips to get things on track? Many thanks.

never heard of the product you are using but I did look it up and found it here the website does not recommend you use this as a first-time grower because of the high potential for contamination. Did you use proper sterile procedures? there is a very high chance that your colony has been contaminated. also, that box is wildly overpriced in my opinion. If I were you I would use Bod's resources to start anew. you will learn so much more if you just do things yourself top to bottom, I almost never recommend grow kits to people.

13 weeks... multi spore... yeah it’s time to let it go. Restart anew.
Maybe actually do the old fashioned PFtek to start with.
Best advice I can give is dump all that stuff outside, cover with some coir, water lightly and pray something pops up on its own.
Keep at it and good luck.

"13 weeks... multi spore... yeah it’s time to let it go."
I might be high. but This made me laugh.
on the 10th. I ran 18 MS fresh start, and 18 LS (a year old)
my LS to spawn is doing great.
I forgot how long MS takes. Was already starting to stress over my inactive MS after 2 weeks
Then I read 13 weeks. Laughing, and crying. I can not believe my home made LC in a reused syringe, from last year. is just going wild.

In the dark is not the way, as you may have already read since you said you brought it out to the light.
That kit is not good for starting with spores. Spores straight to grain is risky already because the mushroom the spores come from was not grown in a sterile environment, so other stuff can and does get in with the good spores. Also working against you is that you have grain (highly nutritious) and your bulk sub (barely nutritious if at all depending on what it is) already mixed together while your mycelium is trying to colonize it.
All in one seems like a good idea since it makes it sound simple and easy but the best way to go about it is to colonize grains by themselves, and once you have that healthy established mycelium you mix it with bulk sub and it can take over and fruit.
But with the stuff already mixed it will take longer for spores that just germinated to colonize, allowing time for other stuff to get hold. With straight grains the myc just keeps on eating and moving. For a kit like that to do well I’d imagine you’d have to use LC.

Thanks everyone for your replies and suggestions. It sounds like this one is no longer a goer. When I bought the kit originally I hadn't noticed the first time growers message and appreciate now that there is much greater risk of contamination with 6 ports. I had done everything in a sterile way but its possible the lack of light and significant temperature shifts in the first few weeks may not have helped development. I will have a read of the bod resources and start again from the bottom up and hopefully next time will yield better results. Thanks again!

That might still colonize. Just gotta be patient.
I wouldn't go with kits. DIY is much better and you have much better control overall.
