Anyone ever figure out why Iphones sound like the call volume only goes to 1? There’s no way it’s supposed to be like that but fully cranked it sounds like the other person on the line is whispering.
I fuckin’ hate Apple, man. The company is shit. I’m glad Steve Jobs is dead..

I have learned to like the split screen feature. For example i have been doing zoom watch alongs with friends for the dead n co saturday night shows and being able to split the screen between zoom and the music is very convient. Likewise there are times where i might be watching a tutorial and making a list of items needed at the same time or otherwise taking notes.

Even though i acknowledge Apple for making a phone that is more powerful than it's duopoly opponent, i do so only on a technological standpoint. From a practical stand point which is a much more influentual factor as far as i'm concerned i think that the Operating system Android is the superior choice.
The thing with Apple is that it had a brilliant business strategy. Google just saw a market copied the software and sold it to giants like Samsung and HTC (It just evolved into something superior overtime). Apple introduced the capacitive touch screen though and formed touch screen interaction basically as we know it today. Upon looking at it hindsight, i can't help but appreciate them for their tactics and approach. As far as business goes. Before the ipod, their main focus was the pc. They were becoming close to obsolete to Windows. Steve Jobs instigated the Ipod which generated enough funds to make further generations and finally enter the cell phone market. What a genius strategy. If you can't beat them at their own game, change the game. Microsoft after several attempts has conceded defeat and retired from the cell phone game. Shame actually because personally i really like their tiles a Windows phone 8 launcher on my Galaxy sometimes, (funny enough i don't use Windows on my computer lol). Now Steve Jobs has passed the business seems more focused on competing rather than crafting their own path. I didn't like where Apple was going before but i respected them for their method of getting there, now i think it's just a rotton core with is absent of any originality, leaching every last penny it can from the suckers that fell into brand loyalty back when the brand at least had some morsel of integrity.

Great input everyone. I guess it's Fuck Apple. Ya know, I had to look up 'flagship' I wasn't really familiar with that non nautical meaning. and 'Otterbox' case, definitely like that recommendation.
I'm buying through the wifes carrier, Consumer Cellular which is catered to boomers, she's getting a new Moto G-7 and adding another line for me. They don't have a lot of models available, they're 'pre-reviewed' to be senior friendly. I did like the Moto's specs, better battery for example, but we shouldn't have identical phones.
Think I'll get the A20, decent cameras, 6.4" screen, it does has a headphone jack, right? Newer ones don't have that ( I think I read that somewhere). The money I save on the cheaper phone will now go towards my soon to be replaced half broke Dell dinosaur laptop running on Windows 7. Probably will be the topic for an upcoming thread, too.
Thanks again for everyone's help.

I'm a little intimidated with this part...
Confession time.
I don't know an F4 key from an F you. Practically computer illeterate. Never had any computer science studys that most people grew up with. I never learned to type back in HS and never gamed, not even Space Invaders(1978) or PacMan(1980). I hated gaming. I was into pinball and truly felt dissed with the 'new technology'.
I feel better now, getting that off my chest
In stead of starting a new thread, I'll just ask this here. What are some nifty or cool Apps I might appreciate?
I heard someone mention a Samsung Health app somewhere maybe a sky watch app., other science type apps. Typo maps etc. are cool, but I can't hike anymore with a bad knee. What are some favorites?

Yes it has a head phone jack. But the better thing is wireless bluetooth ear buds. You can listen to music and pick up phone calls without your phone as long as it is within 30 feet I think.
Edit: FYI all my photos are with the A20.

So I did get the Samsung A20 with 3GB RAM/32GB ROM, and it has " Support for External microSD™ Card up to 512GB".
I downloaded some apps: Zoom, Audubon birds, SkyView and StarTracker, See A Satellite, Firefox, GoogleEarth, PNC bank, Netflix, Facebook, Twitter,Wunderground weather, CBS, Fox, a heath tracker from my hospital, probably a few more, and my usage is already at 26.68 MB. I think it's time to get either a 128 or this 256 card: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MB-MC256-Everything-But-Stromboli/dp/B07P2H133G/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=samsung+galaxy+memory+card+256gb&qid=1588778090&sr=8-4
And what the hell is a "Everything But Stromboli (TM) Micro Card Reader"? Can I even use that?
Thoughts? Is 256 more than I'd really need since I don't game on it? Also, what's the difference between my Mobile data used (26.68MB) and Wi-Fi data (3.73MB)? One other thing, do you think me buying a 10 GB/month shared data plan is enough?
Thanks again for everyone's input, I'm loving my new 'computer'. I don't really consider it a phone because I still only use my other phone, though it's nice having another line.
Funny side note, I haven't given my new number to anyone and I already got a message offering me extended warranty on a car I don't even own.

Depends. Are you gonna be one of those people that takes pictures A LOT? If so go for big space. If not then whatever you want would be fine

128gb is probably plenty but price difference wise I would go for the 256gb to future proof yourself.
Also you may want to reinstall the apps after the card is put in so that the app can leverage the card for storage.
Wifi usage is free and doesnt count toward monthly usage charges Data usage outside the house is where they get you. 10gb shared per month could be good depending who it is shared with, if it is you and the wife it is probably too much

I would recommend buying a second hand, not so old, high-end model. I bought a galaxy S6 in a phone chop shop in a mall in 2017, it still works perfectly, came with a yearlong chop shop warranty, and it was cheap as chips too.
Modern phones however are brittle so two things I highly highly advise are:
1) a screen protector for your smartphone, screens scratch over time, but a screen protector is like a disposable screen you can replace for a dollar whenever you need to.
2) a phone wallet. Cushions against falls and scratches and can double as a wallet if you need it to.

There are some pretty good phones at great prices among little known brands like Umidigi and Cubot. The Umidigi F1, for instance, has some pretty stellar stats at the price range, and boasts a huge 5150mAh battery.

You might be right. I just had a look at the reviews on the page I linked to. Most of the bad comments relate to not being able to update to Android 10, but there are some others. Still, I've had one and it did everything it was meant to at half the price of a big brand phone with similar specs.

If you already used 26g of data then obviously less than 10g is not enough unless you change your habits such as use wifi when possible and limit your dowloads and internet usage until you are on connected to wifi.
Data usage and storage are two different things measured by megabytes and gigabytes. The card you are thinking of buying is for storage, not data.
