probly not ruined....they probly lost moisture (that can be fixed by dunking) may have slowed the growth down a little......but i'd bet they will be o.k.

doubtful...he was useing a heating pad which creates dry heat. and so he probly lost a little moisture.

Myc dies at 106 degrees. Should be o.k. if it never reached that temp. Will probably just slow growth for a bit. Good Luck!

Yeah, i accidentally turned me heater up in my incubator and left the window open (it's hot here) and it got up to 99. Oops, but the jars are still coming along fine after about 4 days of stalling.

what would eveyone suggest putting in between the heating pad and the jars?

I just have my jars on a metal rack about 2 inches above the heating pad. Works great... After they're about 50% colonized i also lay the jars on their sides.... seems to minimize the loss of moisture, but that could be just me.

As for using heating pads, i know you big boys use TiT's, but i get a wonderfully constant 86C from my pad on the low setting..... so if it ain't broke?....
