Is Agar infected
    #26622931 - 04/23/20 05:18 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

I tried my first attempt to inoculate agar with a spore syringe.  I only tried 2 plates just to see what would happen.  I got way to much liquid on both plates.  The plate labeled Brazil is almost certainly infected. The bag holding both plates stinks like hell.  However, is the GT plate ok so far?  I used plates from a kit with Tryptic Soy Agar.

Those are toast brother.  :whiteflag:

I dont even see mycellium just ick, how long since you nocced? and those spore syringes might be bunk? I'm not expert but I think you should have at least gotten some myc growth to clean from that plate, but at this point i wouldnt even open em just chuck so you dont spread agressive mold spores.

Ideally you want to transfer off the plate before contams grow to get a clean plate

Spore syringes have bacteria pretty often in my experience. Sometimes you get enough myc growing past the bacterial edge that you can transfer, this is why a small drop is good.

You can try those again with a small drop and see what happens, but it might be a fight to get something clean. I hate spore syringes lol, prints are the way to go

Thanks for the quick responses!  I just did 2 more plates in my SAB and tried one plate with a nick of myc from a colonized grain bag.  Was able to only use a small drop for each plate this time.  We'll see what happens...
