Wetspot in WBS jars, can I save them, somehow?

Hi guys,
These are quart grain jars with WBS that have been in incubation for around 18 days at 29 degrees celcius. One of the jars got really funky with wetspot and smelt sour so I chucked it and these remaining 4 jars colonised quickly but then they stalled. As you can see one of the jars looks a bit gross but the others all look quite clean.
My intention was to do a monotub bulk grow with coir and verm substrate. I'm thinking this will probably get infected by the time the myc takes hold of the substrate given that I'm one spawn jar down and they clearly have wetspot. Do you think I could wash off the weird bits and just birth them as cakes so that they dont go completely to waste. I couldn't find perlite at bunnings but I got water crystals which I think do the same thing.

Definitely bacterial. Did you not shake them? You can try to spoon out the colonized parts and shoe box them. Probably won’t work great fruiting then as straight grain cakes... mainly because you’re not going to he them out if the jars in any kind of whole pieces being that the jar won’t permit it.

You don't need to incubate them. Stick them on a shelf at room tem and as long as your filter is good you don't have to worry about contams. Also you didn't shake. You gotta shake your jars to speed them up if they are slow colonizers . However I don't know how that would help if you used a MS syringe as the inoculate. MS to grains almost always go bacterial. Agar first then grains.

So technically you can wash off the bacteria and it won't take over the substrate in the same way green monster would?

I concur with fahtster... Also, I can’t say that I recommend this per se, but I have found myself in your predicament before, and for the sake of science(always the perfect go-to excuse, LOL), I’ve gone ahead and shaken the jars and waited to see how they recover... Sometimes you get an entire goopy jar, but I have on at least 1 or 2 occasions gotten decent enough recovery that I went ahead and spawned just to straight coir, and in the end wound up with at least 1-2 good flushes... Again though I must stress that this is not proper procedure and ideally should be avoided. Bacterial jars do however make fine candidates for an outdoor patch.
TL;DR- best to start over.

If you really wanna salvage these tho you could take a hammer and break your jars to get the solid brick of myc out in one peice scrape off the uncolonized bits and throw the peices in a fruiting chamber and let them go

Not really.. bacteria will just grow back. Depends on how bacterial it is though. Most ppl would just toss those jars.. usually not worth the trouble to try and get fruits from them. But since you really want to try and get some fruits, your only real chance is to spoon out the colonized grain and put it bulk substrate and hope for the best. You shake it now (especially the obvious one) and you’ll just spread the bacteria around the jar (even though it’s already all over the jar but it’s been allowed to thrive in those uncolonized parts

I concur with faht. The reason you don't want to shake is because you damage the already colononized grain and mix all of it in with the bacterial grains. This is why I suggested breaking your jars to get it out in one peice. I've done that before with bacterial brf. I would just throw it in a mason jar and fruit half a cake that smelled like feet or whatever.
Now that I'm doing agar and cleaning up my cultures and isolating this is a thing of the past. I used to think it was hard and a big deal to use agar. It's not at all.

Yeah, it really would be for the best just to throw them out and start over. Building good habits is key. Start with agar next time.

If you decide to spoon them out, I'd suggest you to go for shoeboxes instead of a monotub.
If you don't have any other grows happening or shrooms at home, it's completely understandable you don't want to go back to step 1 at this point and wait for long weeks again.

I won't save them but if you wanna try you can do an out door patch with a bit of straw and see if you can get some mushrooms out of that contaminated grains
