Gomphidius, I think, with no Suillus?
    #26619816 - 04/22/20 10:39 AM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Habitat: Found in thick, spongy, pine needle duff in Santa Cruz Mnts, CA. Oddly these trees were non-endemic pine (I assume), not doug fir.

Groveled under dry branches and through spider webs seeking Suillus, but no luck.  Perhaps I'm too late.

Unfortunately some creature mauled the cap.

Spore print color: Dark grey

Bruising: yellow!

Am I correct with Gomphidius sp?

They look very like Gomphidius subroseus. They are certainly a Gomphidius species.

Happy mushrooming!

Yeah, G. subroseus sure seems like it.  Thanks!
