Don’t know what’s going wrong. Please help?

So I’m not to sure what’s going on with my jars, Or syringes I cant figure it out. I ordered from a diff supplier even this time. Is there a certain brown rice I should be using? Or specific temp for germination? Because nothing seems to be working. I even inoculated some more presterile grain I ordered and those haven’t showed any sort of growth yet after 5 days and the jars have been sitting for 8 with no sign of anything. Any advice??

Need lots more info.
Temps? Should be around 78 F BRF or straight rice?
It could take two weeks or more depending on the environment to see any growth. Patience is the best ingredient for mushroom growth.

Def need some more info. Ill assume youre growing cubes, and yea going from spore syringe directly to grain will prolly take about 14 days til you see growth. Even growing a wedge out on agar takes 7-10 days. Just be patient.

Make your own jars
Shake the syringe before use

I’m using brown rice but I’m grinding it up into ground rice flour. I’m using verm and the grinded up brown rice and water for my cakes. I’m using 2.1.1 ratio. I have them in an incubation chamber in my closet with a heat lamp no light on them though. It’s on an automatic thermostat set for 75 degrees but I just bumped it up to 78. Is there anything that would keep them from showing growth?

I also did shake before I inoculated just to make sure. And before I inoculated each hole I wiped the syringe down with an alcohol wipe same with each hole.

you should flame your needle, not alcohol wipe it, also if you inject directly into the middle of the cake itll take longer to see signs of growth. you should squirt the syringe towards and down the side of the jar, that way itll be easier to check up on the progress of growth

You should flame sterilize the needle

Are you cooking the jars before injecting them?
I know spores can take over a month to grow but I’ve done a lot of them and 95% germinated by day 6 or not at all.
Especially with syringes I had growth on day 3 or 4 every time.

Maybe i missed it, did he say he shot it in the middle of the cake?
Before loading jars check for field capacity regardless of of the ratio is right
You used a dry verm top layer?
How long ago you noc the jars?
You dont need to hide from light.
Whats the temp there?
Like he said, flame the needle before every jar
Shoot against glass
Could be a couple weeks or a bit more before germ.
Fuck some cakes
I would probably have to be bored and do it for the pure joy to grow cakes. They are cool. But ime bulk is easier to grt mushrooms fastest and most efficiently

Yea I used a dry layer. It’s been about 15 days the spores were shot along the side of the glass. I set the temp to 78 but it was at 75 for the first week till I posted this. What is ime?

I am pressure cooking the jars at 15 psi for 60 mins. I have tin foil over the jar lids screwed on loosely. 4 holes in the lids. Occasionally I’ll have some water droplets in the lids under the foil but idk if that’s bad? I also let the jars sit in the cooker till everything is cooled off usually about roughly 16 hrs. Then I take the foil off tighten the jars and inoculate.

Also every time I make the sub I check for consistency it feels like damp sand. I squeeze it in my hand and only about a drop or 2 comes out after really squeezing it in my hand for a few seconds

I just want to say thanks to everyone for the help and advice! I found out the problem was my cakes were to dry. But after adding an additional 1/3 cup of water to the mix(a little less) it worked perfectly. I really appreciate it! You guys are awesome!

My advice is wait more than 8 days. Especially if temps are cold
