Finds from Tasmanian Hunting Session
    #26618698 - 04/21/20 08:42 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Hey fellow hunters,

Just keen to share some of my finds so far this season in south-eastern Tasmania. I sadly haven't been able to find any active species as of yet but that has not detracted from the excitement so far.
(To preface, my identification skills are amateur at best, I am still only new to hunting as this is my 3rd year participating in the season
Any expert advise or corrections to my ID would be appreciated.)

One of my best finds this year would be what I believe to be a large "Omphalotus Nidiformis" or "Ghost fungus". These are supposedly bio-luminescent, and so I was thinking of returning on a night soon and see if i could observe a residual glow and get some sick photos.

I also believe I located some sort of "Hygrocybe" species, throughout the bushland near my house, so I am hoping they are a good sign as I have read somewhere that they were good to improve soil quality.

In the same vein, possibly the most common mushroom found around my area is what I believe to be the "Oudmansiella Gigaspora". It also seems that while most mushrooms around the area seem to have holes taken out of them, these are generally untouched. Are they ridiculously poisonous to everything around them and so they are left alone? Or are they just resistant shrooms?

My main question though is concerning a species that appears very similar to P. Subaeruginosa, although I am almost certain are not active. They appear to possess a brown-white stem with umbonate to convex cap shapes, as well as having a light brown gill colour. I believed they could have been Galerina Patagonia, although I cannot find an annulus on any of the mushrooms, and so I am unsure. I have also seen recent ID's in tasmania suggest it could be "marasmius oreades" although I rarely see the ones in this area with such a prominent umbonation, they are almost always convex.

(And, is that a large Agaricus austrovinaceus in the bottom half of the first photo? If so im slightly disappointed I didn't learn its identity earlier, or I would have taken it home for a snack!)
