Is sulfur shelf/chicken of the woods more yellow when it is immature? Found in rotting wood in the woods

it does look like Laetioporus, we need to see the underside and also need a general location, like the nearest big city of town.

North side of KY. 30 minutes from Louisville. From what Ive read, its a bit early for sulfur shelf, but I cant find any info at all on look alikes. I will get better shots when I go back and harvest after we finally get some rain in a couple days. Dont worry, Im not eating it until I get confirmation on the ID.

Tried to get a close up of the pores with my macro lens, but the lighting stinks, and the lens covers my flash.

I'm 99.999% sure its C.O.W. Any tips for preparing it? Guessing I just soak it in water for a while to get rid of any critters, then cut the leaf litter out, cut into strips, sautee in oil until well done to break down whatever compound causes indigestion. Glad I waited until after the rains. It is considerably larger than 4-5 days ago. Is there any way to preserve it? Read that it doesn't freeze or dehydrate well.

Is it possible that I could harvest again at some point this summer?

I'm in Kentucky as well, and I found my first chicken about a month ago, the earliest I have ever found one ever!
I had an old rotting stump put out three full flushes of them last year, so check back, you may get another batch

I never harvest the whole thing but leave some on the tree and they grow back.
