colonized plate to brf cake questions
    #26617730 - 04/21/20 12:56 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

I've got a nice gt clone plate at home that I want to work with. My tubs are full atm so I thought I would go take another shot at pf tek. What would be the best way to get the mycelium into a syringe? Wet the plate and suck it up or cut some wedges, add to sterile water and shake and draw up from there?

I would wash the plate with water from a clean syringe and the  uptake the mycelium water. Might work

Personally, I would use the plate to make 2-3 additional plate ( assuming it's clean, and you like the genetics, and use 1/2 to make a master grain jar, assuming your tubs are being made with grain. Or keep in fridge for a rainy day. Transfer after 2-4 months, depending on your agar, and dryness, to keep that master going. I wouldn't waste a culture on a single cake.

I wasn't planning on doing a single cake. I was going to do a full round of 10. I'm going to prep the cakes and lids tonight while I consider what to do about the culture. I might also make some more plates and PC some syringes. I am thinking I want to do 5 traditional PF tek and do 5 with injection port / filter lids and compare the results.
