Substrate longevity
    #26617579 - 04/21/20 11:52 AM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Thanks for the site.  I pasteurized my substrate (Coco + Verm.) a few weeks too early (about 20 days ago)  I popped the cover for the first time and seen a few vegetative sprouts (Coco trees?).  I should be ready to mix my colonized rye berries (GT) this coming weekend, but don't want to run the risk of contamination after a month of waiting on the mycelia to take root in the grain.  So, my question is can I re-pasteurize the substrate since it wasnt used yet, or am I best to start the substrate over with new Coco and V?  The colonized grain are in bags and the substrate is in my monotub.  Thank you very much!

I've used coir that's been in my bucket for weeks with no issue. Personally I'd say go for it.

:whathesaid:

Or if you can re pasteurize it without it losing moisture that'd work too

Either way will probably be fine as long as your spawn is clean and healthy
