Habitat: Growing in a well manicured lawn, central florida
Gills: Tan-black
Stem: Long and thin
Cap: Nickel diameter, tan to dark brown
Spore print color: Black
Bruising: None
Other information: Very strong mushroomy scent. Saw this panaeolus growing after a rain, haven't seen many mushrooms growing until this week and remembered stories of the Florida lawn shroom decided to try to ID it. Any thoughts? Looks alot like foenscii but has a jet black spore print.

Could be cinctulus. A good way to be sure is draw with a black sharpie next to the print. Black=trippy brown=foe

Panaeolus cinctulus not foenisecii these are psychoactive but you need a lot.
Edit: send Alan Rockefeller a message if you are willing to help him with his research. Alan has been studying the grass Species being called Panaeolus cinctulus and comparing them to the species found in dung, he thinks the grass species may be something else.

Because of the same thing I say in EVERY cint claim I post in. The stem is not right. They aren't supposed to be smooth and white. More of a brown (a lot uploaded lol brown because that's how foe and others with smooth white stems bruise) with what I can only describe as little white hairs rather then smooth texture you probably know your term of what I'm describing. Look up three wiki for cints and look at the main picture. You'll see EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

Could be the undescribed panaeolus we call "lawn cinctulus," in the words of Alan, the grass-dwelling panaeolus are a diverse group of mushrooms

Alan has peaked my interest in the species, looking forward to examining both the grass dwelling and dung dwelling species.

The "Little White Hairs" You Are Describing Can Be Wiped Off Very Easily. Even In The Wiki Picture, You Can See That A Blade Of Grass Rubbed Up Against One Of The Stipes & Left A Bare Streak.
I Don't Think There Is Any Species Of Mushroom That Looks The Exact Same Every Time You Find One. Also, Weather Conditions Can Effect The Way Mushrooms Look.
I've Never Found 2 Cubes That Looked The Exact Same With No Difference. Whether They Are Young, Mature, Genetically Mutated, Waterlogged, Sun Dried, Etc.. They Always Look A Tad Bit Different & That Is Why We Use Multiple Key Features To Identify.
(By The Way, Not Saying You Are Wrong, Just Saying Cinctulus Can Look Different)

Sure the striate can easily fall off, but my point is they aren't supposed to be Smith white stems... There should at least be some of that powdery residue visible, but rarely is anything posted presenting with it even when photographed before being picked.
Edit: I completely understand your point and agree that a single culture even can present some wildly different fruits. Did you see that guys mutant oyster recently posted?

striate is referring to the lines/grooves on the stem.
edit: you are talking about the white powdery substance that gives the stipe a pruinose appearance.

Hey guys! Thankyou for all the info! Based on the discussion I decided to go grab another from the same patch to examine it, picked one about 2 inches from the original. Stalk was mostly red before being touched(I hadn't looked at the original before picking it so I couldn't be certain if that coloration was bruising or not), gills were a little darker. I did notice a little white powderyness but only at the top of the stalk, not sure if that's what tacodude was talking about, and it was a very small amount, seemed to fall off with handling. Will update with pictures of the new one after the spore print is finished! I'm excited to see that there's such interest in grass based panaeolus. I've always loved things with a weed-like growth habit, something about their uncontrollability, so seeing so much interest in what could be considered a weed species of mushroom is awesome.

No Sir, He Asked Me If I Had Seen A Recent Thread About Some Mutated Oyster Mushrooms, & I Said Yes, I Do Believe I Saw That Thread. Some Guy Posted Some Oysters That Were Lacking FAE & They Looked Strange. I Believe You Commented On That Thread Too.

Here's some photos of another from that same patch from a few inches away from the original, it broke up in my pocket on the way home so couldn't get a good complete photo of it
