I was feeling a bit lazy tonight during spawning. I employed some cheap labor. Yoda used the force to top layer the substrate while darth Vader used the force to lift the lid and put it on the tub.

Fill an empty quart jar with water and then put the lid on and flip it over. If it leaks than the lid is trash imo.
Do u use the silicone rings to put inside the lid? That's what I had to do

I thought that was the no mod appeal of the white ones is they let just enough air in for gas exchange

Oh no I moded my white ones with SFD or Watmans. But still, maybe it's me. I prefer the simplicity of the metal lid with a small hole and Micropore tape.
I will start working on the Minimalist approach to cultivation soon I promise.
I need to finish the Mush Cult Grain Guide in my journal first.

The jars I posted, you guys think they look safe to spawn? I bought 3 more 60qt tubs and 8 shoeboxes for the crosses.
I’m still a noob to spawning and I didn’t hear any objections, did any of my jars look too bad to spawn? I think most just have dry spots but other than that one with the discoloration did anything look like a def no? I think I’ll spawn the iffy one to a shoe box.

I just harvested one. Dehydrator is full. Probably morning. I’d harvest now but they will be waiting for space.

I’ve never had an issue with poly fill lids drying grain out and I was running a wood stove all winter.
Yes 1 quart per box is standard.
I use 1qt spawn and 1qt coir with a top layer.. so more like 1:1.5

Do they usually end up with thick meaty bases? Trying to remember the true stropharia.

Stropharia are dense, meaty base and very upright growth. Stems crack.

You can clone now before there are spore drops. Harvest one and in you sAB take a small tissue sample from the inside of the stem. I usually remove the cap and take from right below the inscision. Only taking tissue from inside the stem.

Also if you need to delay, harvest fruit, put it in a ziplock in the fridge a day or two and you can clone the next day.
