Went for a trip to a pine Forrest this morning in the Hunter region.
No luck, saw lots of lookalikes of P. Subaeruginosa but no actives. I don’t think the weather is quite right yet for my reigion but the habitats I saw the lookalikes growing in look promising

Were there anyone else around?
Look through the threads to get an idea what Ps. Alutacea and Ps. Papuana look like. Hopefully they are out there too.

No luck further south either.... So saying I am typing this whilst sitting in front of the fire and outside temps around 5 degrees-ish, and raining too! So any day now I think!

There were some campers and bikers riding on the trails but me and my friend didn’t come into direct contact with anyone. I guess people aren’t taking these isolation laws too seriously (guilty of that myself)
The weather forecast for the next week in that area starts with 26 degrees C, and ends with a 22 degree day with some rain, so hopefully if the following week keeps those conditions I can go to another hunt in a fortnight

Not exactly sure where Griffith is in relation to me but I’d say maybe Orebon? I’ve heard there’s some great pine Forrest’s around there and at that altitude subs should grow nicely with cold wet weather, to my knowledge anyway

Yeah, hi. I had a look around the Hampton region, before Oberon. Cheers, and happy hunting!

Righto, gotcha.
No direct visual by me - a friend was stopped at Sunny Corner, and apparently Newnes was patrolled (very popular over Easter).
I guess the point being that Easter long weekend typically gets busy in the region and the fun police were out there.
I doubt it would be a big issue now, but still, explaining why it's essential for you to be in a forest with a bag of shrooms is not my idea of fun.
Hope you give us the heads-up if you find anything interesting.
Good luck man.

It is definitely cold enough. The blueys have been cold and sydney is starting to get cold. Rain is the key, although i have no scientific sense of how many mm or time is necessary to initiate fruiting.

Its hard to say, because its so variable. I generally would say 20+mm and 1-2 weeks later another 10-15mm should do the trick.
In 2006 we (SA) saw a 40mm rain event in April than a week or so later 14mm over 3 days and that triggered fruits. 2004 saw 18mm on the 1st - 5th, that is 18mm over 5 days start of the month than on the 18th of May 46mm... pins were found on the 21st in a cold spot. 3 days later.
Essentially the conclusion ive come to is what is needed two decent rain events 1-2 weeks apart in Autumn with temps optimally from 5-15 degrees or at least 18 degrees celsius below.
These are based on some data, not like i have a weather station at a patch, but the closest most reliable data which suggests roughly the conditions necessary.
Edit: Also time wise 2-7 days after rain (assuming fruiting) i personally like. That is when fruits start to mature but the mushrooms are fresh fresh.

Thanks, that's very helpful. I observed subs last year when there was morning fog and high humidity creating dew, so I'm guessing this could also trigger them to fruit.
