I done f*cked up my PC

The title says it all. Have some agar that's going well so I decided to take the day and cook up some rye. All goes well with my experimental rye tek (writeup coming soon) for quick soak/cook, and I'm ready to PC. Three quarts of water, two Tbs white vinegar - ready to rock. I toss in eight jars, vent for 10 minutes, toss on the weight, adjust the flame and set the timer; standard procedure that I've gone through on this PC (Presto 01781) a dozen times. I leave it to go watch Psychonautics on Amazon. Checked in an hour later and all is well with in the world, sitting happily at 15 PSI and steam coming from under the rocker. I go back to finish the flic. Once 90 minutes is up I head back up to the kitchen and am immediately struck with the smell of cooking grains. I run over to the stove to turn off the heat and immediately notice that the PC is no longer sitting level on the grates over the burner. This was the result:

Somewhere between an hour and 90 minutes I had to have ran out of water. Oddly, when I checked the pressure gauge before I killed the fire it was still at 15 PSI - all jars are in one piece. Regardless, the heat was enough to warp the bottom and cook some of the rye (don't worry, still gonna noc'em up). Looks like I'm done cooking for awhile.
So, PSA: don't just walk away from your PC - check it regularly

If the rocker was spinning and hissing a lot, pressure was too high. You want to get the burner down to a temp where it maintains 15 PSI and barely lets out any steam. Slight movement of the rocker. 3 quarts shouldn't have dried up that quickly, unless it was leaking steam or the pressure was high causing the rocker to hiss and bounce around like crazy.
Another thing that really helped me was adding a few quarters taped to the top of my rocker. The bit of extra weight lets me reach 18 PSI and mantain it without the rocker going nuts.
Sorry that happened to your PC dude, at least there wasn't a worse accident...and prestos aren't too expensive.
I think people have used a hammer to level out warps and used the thing still but I would probably be too scared to do that

Yup - pressure was at a constant 15 PSI. It had to have been a leaky seal, but initial visual inspection didn't reveal any suspects.

Damn, that's a ballsy move considering the pressures we're playing with. Methinks I'll just keep my eyes open for a new Presto.

Definetly get a new one. If you hammer on it, it may create a weak point which could cause it to fail

Yeah, you must be loosing a lot of steam somehow. I once again did 2 full runs today on one dose of 2.5 quarts of water.
Suck to see though, especially when things are already hard to replace in these times as it is.
