How does one tell a lepiota from a leucoagaricus?

Having had a look, and the only difference I see on immature specimens are the base of the stipe. I thought it was the stinky dapperling. I think I need to read some more, but I'll probably treat the leucoagaricus as lepiotas in the future as well, just to be safe.

Big difference I’ve noticed is Leucoagaricus is distinctively radially striate even in pin form. Sounds kinda dumb. I dunno a better way to explain.

I often mix them up with Leucocoprinus.

Yeah. A better picture would be nice. I can’t say for sure I see it either but the fact that it’s growing in a vivarium is also a good indicator. My mother-in-law gets them in her greenhouse frequently, then about a month later they’ll start popping up around the yard.

I should clean up my previous statement by saying the striate cap is not a universal trait of Leucoagaricus. Leucoagaricus leucothites definitely doesn’t have that trait, whereas Leucoagaricus americanus does.
